The Growth Of Wind And Solar Energy Production In The State Of Bahia Is Ensuring Strong Financial Investments In The State Market And The Government Expects Investments Of Up To R$ 45 Billion By 2027.
The Energy Executive Report from the Secretary of Economic Development (SDE) indicates that the renewable energy market in the state of Bahia is expected to receive around R$ 45 billion in investments by the end of 2027. The region is a leader in energy auctions for production from renewable sources, particularly wind and solar, which have been boosting the state economy in recent years.
Investments In The Renewable Energy Market In Bahia Are Expected To Reach R$ 45 Billion By The End Of 2027, With A Focus On Wind And Solar Production
The state of Bahia continues to lead the renewable energy market in Brazil, representing a significant portion of the national generation of wind energy (35.01%) and solar energy (30.30%), being a major highlight in the country’s energy transition. The figures for production projects are positive, as the state currently has 233 wind farms and 41 solar farms in operation.
Regarding wind energy generation, the installed capacity has reached 6,111 megawatts (MW), while the solar energy production segment has an installed capacity of 1,349 MW.

While hydroelectric plants lose capacity due to evaporation caused by heat in the reservoirs, the Philippines are installing floating solar panels on the plants’ own lakes, generating energy, reducing evaporation by up to 70%, and cooling the panels to increase electrical efficiency at the same time.

Google builds the world’s largest iron-air battery in Minnesota with 300 MW and 30 GWh to store energy for 100 consecutive hours.
-
Small and flexible hydropower plants can be a game-changer for clean energy by generating electricity in previously overlooked rivers, without requiring large dams or aggressively altering the water flow.

Dongfang breaks world record and manufactures 26 MW wind turbine in China with 137-meter blades that spin so slowly they appear stationary on the horizon.
In addition, the state has also established itself as a major leader in the commercialization of wind and solar energy auctions, accounting for 32.46% and 19.7%, respectively, of the projects sold. Thus, attracting investments to the renewable market has become a major focus for the state government and companies in the sector.
According to the Energy Executive Report from the Secretary of Economic Development, the renewable energy market in the region is expected to receive around R$ 45 billion in investments by the end of 2027.
Of this total amount, approximately R$ 13 billion will be allocated to the construction of wind farms, and R$ 32 billion for solar farm projects, aimed at harnessing the production potential that the Bahia region possesses.
Check The Main Growth Data Of The Energy Market In The Bahia Region Over The Past Few Years
The Bahia renewable energy market has been attracting significant investments to the development of projects over the past few years.
Data from the SDE shows that, in recent years, R$ 24 billion in private investments have been made in the 233 operational wind energy production plants, benefiting 23 municipalities. These include: Bonito, Brotas de Macaúbas, Brumado, Caetité, Cafarnaum, Campo Formoso, Casa Nova, Gentio do Ouro, Guanambi, Igaporã, Iraquara, Licínio de Almeida, Morro do Chapéu, Mulungu do Morro, Ourolândia, Pindaí, Riacho de Santana, Sento Sé, Sobradinho, Souto Soares, Umburanas, Várzea Nova, and Xique-Xique.
As for the solar energy segment in the northeastern state, over 40,400 jobs have already been created and distributed to residents of the region in recent years, in addition to R$ 6 billion invested in the 41 plants that are currently operational.
The municipalities benefiting from these investments are: Barreiras, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Casa Nova, Guanambi, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Juazeiro, Oliveira dos Brejinhos, and Tabocas do Brejo Velho.
Now, the SDE will continue to work alongside the Government of the State of Bahia to ensure that the projections for billion-dollar investments in the renewable energy sector are realized over the coming years, reaching the target set for the end of 2027.
