Meta has started to release Instagram Plus, the paid version of the social network, in Brazil for 10 reais per month. According to the company, the subscription allows anonymous viewing of stories, keeps posts online for 48 hours, and offers more customization and metrics, without changing the free Instagram.

According to information from the news portal CNN Brazil, the Instagram that you pay to use has arrived in Brazil. According to Meta, the owner of the social network, Instagram Plus, the paid version of the app, began to be released in the country on Thursday (4), for 10 reais per month. The company itself informed that the release is gradual, so the invitation to subscribe may not have appeared to all users yet.

According to the announcement from Meta, the feature that caught the most attention is the possibility of anonymous viewing of stories, that is, viewing other people’s stories without your name appearing on the list of viewers. Still according to the company, subscribers can also keep posts online for 48 hours, double the current 24 hours, and Meta assures that the paid version does not remove anything from the free version of Instagram.

According to the statement from Meta, the paid version unlocks a series of features focused on stories, customization, and privacy.

The company states that the most direct change is in the stories, which will now be available for 48 hours instead of 24, with priority in delivery.

The company also mentions the creation of several segmented audience lists, similar to the Close Friends feature, but with more flexibility to choose who sees each content, in addition to exclusive reactions.

According to the company, the package includes metric and aesthetic features. Meta lists the possibility of seeing how many times a post has been rewatched, searching names in the list of viewers, customizing the app icon, changing the bio font, and pinning posts on the profile, among other functions.

According to reports from the specialized press covering the launch, the charge of 10 reais is recurring, made by the App Store or Google Play, and the total number of features reaches 11.

How anonymous story viewing works

The most cited attraction of Instagram Plus is indeed the anonymous viewing. According to Meta, the subscriber can watch other accounts’ stories without their name being recorded in the author’s view list.

It’s a feature that many people have requested, aimed at those who just want to take a look without being noticed, and it appears both in the company’s announcement and in the description from the source that reported the launch.

However, it’s worth looking at both sides. While anonymous viewing provides more privacy to the viewer, it also reduces transparency for the publisher, as the owner of the stories no longer knows that person viewed it.

Meta positions the set of functions as a way to give users more control, and anonymous viewing is just one of the privacy tools the company claims to include in the plan.

Meta’s strategy and what is still just a plan

According to Meta, this is the first subscription service the company brings to one of its social networks in Brazil, in a move that, according to the company’s statement, seeks to diversify revenue sources beyond advertising.

According to reports about the launch, in other markets the same plan costs US$ 3.99, about 20 reais at the June 2026 exchange rate, while in Brazil the price informed by the company is 10 reais.

It’s important to separate what already exists from what is still a promise. The paid version of Instagram is what has actually started to be released.

Meanwhile, the paid versions of Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as a single hub to gather subscriptions, in tests under the name Meta One, were presented by Meta‘s product director, Naomi Gleit, at the end of May, but have not yet been launched.

In other words, these are plans and tests announced by the company, not products already available.

Is it worth paying for Instagram?

For those who don’t want to spend, Meta states that the free version of Instagram remains the same, without losing features, and that the paid version is just an optional upgrade.

According to the company, no one is required to subscribe to continue using the social network as before.

The cost-benefit analysis, then, is personal. Based on the features described by the company, the plan tends to make more sense for content creators and for those who value privacy, detailed metrics, and anonymous viewing of stories.

Those who use Instagram casually probably won’t miss the subscription.

Since the release is gradual, it’s worth checking in your own account, under Profile and in the subscriptions menu, to see if the paid version is already available.

Paying 10 reais per month to view stories anonymously and keep posts online longer is the kind of novelty that divides opinions.
