The Company’s Expansion Also Involved the Opening of Its E-Commerce and Support from Invest Minas
Santa Rita do Sapucaí, known as the Valley of Electronics, was chosen by Metagal for investments, which received support from Invest Minas. With 60 years in the market, the company is a leader in the manufacturing of automotive mirrors and modern rearview systems.
Metagal expects total investments of approximately R$ 29 million to expand the production of the unit in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, in Southern Minas, and it is estimated that there will be a creation of around one hundred jobs in the new factories. The expansion of the company’s production included the opening of its e-commerce, which was completed at the end of January this year.
Why Did the Large Mirror Factory Decide to Invest in Minas Gerais?
According to Luís Machado, the factory’s tax manager: “Minas has always been an option, as we are already here and it keeps us close to our clients, who are automobile and truck manufacturers. The conditions for e-commerce are also attractive, in addition to the surrounding region of Santa Rita do Sapucaí and Pouso Alegre growing significantly. Metagal believes in the strength of the State and the region.”

Moreover, Machado cites the warmth of Minas people as a decisive factor for investments in the automotive sector: “We talked to other governments to find out the conditions for investment. The great differentiator for Minas was the interest shown by the State, from the first contact with Invest Minas, in receiving our company. The conversations always evolved in search of solutions that would be beneficial for both sides, not just one. This shows that Minas Gerais is willing to listen to the demands of companies and do what is possible to facilitate investments.”
Job Creation and Economic Development Promoted by the New Factories
Josiane Rafaella Faleiro, investment promotion analyst at Invest Minas responsible for the project, states that the expansion of the automotive sector has been achieving significant results in attracting investments. Thus, more jobs and income will be generated for the people of Minas.
For her, “it is this administration’s commitment to support those who create jobs and wealth for the people of Minas, reducing bureaucracy and providing security for investors to make investments. The expansion of Metagal is another positive result of this philosophy, which transforms into social gains as more one hundred people from Minas will have jobs and be able to provide better living conditions for their families and boost the local economy.”
