The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) Officially Launched the National Energy Plan (PNE) for Brazil to Become an Exporter.
The MME presents evidence on planning and evolution in the energy sector in Brazil to enable it to become an exporter, and it also brings a novelty: the change of model regarding the availability of energy resources in the country. The study shows that Brazil is in a favorable and abundant situation regarding energy sources. This scenario, as projected and indicated by the National Energy Plan 2050, could be the gateway for Brazil to become a strong net energy exporter.

“The availability exceeds the most optimistic demand projections for the next 30 years. We have a great opportunity to become a strong net energy exporter,” projects the MME minister.
“Complementing this change is the fact that this profusion occurs on a large scale with resources from renewable and clean energy sources. It is a significant challenge to maintain the commitment to a matrix with a high level of renewability, combined with supply security in a country of continental dimensions,” adds the MME minister.

Brazil Through MME Can Become a Major Energy Exporter in the Next 30 Years
According to the PNE 2050, the variability of energy resources comes from both fossil sources and renewable energy. This abundance already largely exceeds the internal demand projected until 2050, which is over 14 billion toe (tons of oil equivalent). Only the easily accessible resources represent more than 60% of the demand for the entire period.
The challenge throughout the journey of PNE 2050 will be the management of this profession. According to the document, the total availability of resources for the next 30 years could reach 280 million toe, thus positioning Brazil as a significant net energy exporter soon.
