According to the report “Projeções do Agronegócio, Brasil 2019/20 to 2029/30”, in the next 10 years Brazil will reach a production of 318,3 million tons of grains, on the other hand, driven by cotton, corn and soybeans, the 2019/20 crop is expected to exceed a record level of 250 million tons.
The ministry foresees a ten-year increase of 16,7% in the area planted with grains, totaling an area of 76,4 million hectares in 2029/2030. If you do not consider only cereals and include sugarcane, coffee and oranges, the planted area should be 88,2 million hectares, with an increase of 13,5%.
According to the report, “The additional need for areas can be met by replacing crops, reducing pastures and using a no-tillage system… The development of agricultural production in Brazil should continue to take place based on productivity”.
A significant increase of 23,8% in meat production will occur in the next decade, considering bovine, pork and chicken proteins, which will increase from 28,2 million to a total of 34,9 million tons. Another sector that will see a big increase despite “strong pressure from the international market” will be exports, with an increase of 34,3% in chicken shipments and pork shipments, a total of 36,8%.
According to the national government, Brazil, which is the largest exporter of soybeans, will be responsible for 52% of exports of the cereal in a decade, and will also supply a total of 23,2% of corn.
Sugar exports during this period are expected to increase by 57,9% to reach 25,23 million tons in 2029/30, while corn shipments will increase by 29,1% to 44,5 million unit tons.
