The Potential for Wind Power Generation in Brazil Is Growing Every Day. This Week, Vestas Received an Order for 49 Wind Turbines from the French Multinational Quadran International Through Its Subsidiary Quadran Brazil in Ceará.

This week, news broke that Vestas in Ceará received an order for wind turbines for the Serrote wind farm, with a capacity of 206 MW, located in the State of Ceará, in the municipality of Trairí. A total of 49 wind turbines were ordered, and the contract includes the supply and installation of V150-4.2 MW wind turbines with a hub height of 125 meters.

According to Quadran Brazil’s CEO, Armando Abreu, the company is thrilled with this development.

“We are very pleased with the success of the negotiations for the use of V150-4.2 MW wind turbines in our first project in Brazil. We believe this partnership will add significant value, quality, and safety to our projects. I would like to thank Vestas for the collaborative spirit demonstrated in this contract and hope we can continue to work together on our upcoming initiatives,” he stated.

The towers, the 49 nacelles, and the blades that will produce the Serrote wind farm will be manufactured locally under the rules of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).

“I would like to thank Quadran Brazil for the trust placed in Vestas. The project will certainly benefit from the performance of our leading onshore wind turbine, as well as from the proximity of our assembly facilities in Aquiraz,” said Rogério S. Zampronha, President of Vestas in Brazil and South LATAM.

As soon as Vestas announced the expansion of its production capacity in 2018, it had already accumulated 819 MW in orders for its market-leading onshore wind turbine, the V150-4.2 MW.

The delivery of the turbines is expected to start in 2020, with commissioning in 2021.
