The Investment Was Made, With The Approval Of The CADE, To Acquire Ventos De Santo Antão, With About 4 Wind Farms For Clean Energy Generation!
The CADE, after the approval of its general superintendent, validated the sale of Ventos De Santo Antão to the Portuguese multinational clean energy company, Galp, which will become the owner of the 4 wind farms available in Rio Grande do Norte. Each wind farm has 50 MW. Along with the investment, Galp will also possess the greenfield project, which was developed and sold by Casa dos Ventos.
This new venture by Galp is part of its strategy to expand its renewable energy generation portfolio, given that the company is already one of the main producers of solar photovoltaic energy in the Iberian Peninsula, with an installed capacity in operation of 1.2 GW. The company’s main objective with the investment is to increase its capacity for renewable energy production globally to 4 GW by 2025 and 12 GW by 2030.
Galp’s Investments in Brazil
In Brazilian territory, the Portuguese company began its activities in the national renewable energy generation sector in October 2021, through an agreement with SER Energia to purchase 594 MW in solar projects under development in Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte. In May 2022, the company closed a new agreement with SER Energia for the purchase of projects under development in solar photovoltaic energy, with a total maximum capacity of 4.6 GW peak. Now, Galp’s investment was in Casa dos Ventos, for a cluster of 216 MW of wind farms under development in the Northeast.

Brazilian scientists are simultaneously advancing two research projects on clean hydrogen and driving solutions that could transform the energy matrix, enhance industrial competitiveness, and accelerate large-scale emission reduction targets.

Advancement in renewable energy: A R$ 150 million project launched by Petrobras and Finep aims to create state-of-the-art electrolyzers for green hydrogen, strengthening national research and preparing Brazil to compete in a billion-dollar energy market.

Illiterate or semi-literate grandmothers were trained to repair solar systems, open rural workshops, and light up homes that still depended on kerosene.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
About Galp Energy and Its Investments
The new owner of Casa dos Ventos is also the third largest producer of oil and gas in Brazil, through Petrogal, which it manages in partnership with the Chinese company Sinopec. The Portuguese oil company, a partner of Petrobras in essential pre-salt fields like Tupi, has ten-year contracts with Sergas (SE), Cegás (CE), and, since September, also with the Espírito Santo gas distributor, ES Gás, as in the same month, Galp signed its third long-term contract for the sale of natural gas in the Brazilian market.
The contract with ES Gás now totals 912 million m³ of gas supply until 2032, with volumes able to be gradually increased over the contractual term. The estimated total value exceeds R$ 1.9 billion. This is the first time ES Gás will have another supplier of natural gas besides Petrobras.
