After 2022 Was Marked by Consecutive Fuel Price Increases, Petrobras Announces Diesel Price Cut and Eases the Burden on Truckers
After the average price of gasoline per liter in Brazil rose above R$ 5 last week (from January 29 to February 4, according to ANP data), Petrobras brought good news for consumers: starting yesterday, 02/08, the average sale price of diesel to distributors dropped from R$ 4.50 to R$ 4.10 per liter, a reduction of R$ 0.40 per liter, easing the financial load for Brazilians, especially truckers!
According to the state company, the diesel price reduction is primarily guided by the aim of balancing Petrobras’s prices with national and international markets, taking into account the main supply alternatives for our clients and the necessary market share for asset optimization.
The company, in forming petroleum and natural gas derivative prices in the domestic market, seeks to avoid passing on the conjunctural volatility of quotations and exchange rates while preserving a healthy competitive environment as per current legislation.

The weekly spike occurred due to the increase in the sale price of gasoline by Petrobras to distributors, which rose from R$ 3.08 to R$ 3.31 per liter, an increase of R$ 0.23.
Additionally, the ceiling of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on fuels is counting down to its end.
