With 81.5% of the works completed, the Metro Line 6-Orange advances in São Paulo with stations in the final phase, automatic trains in testing, and a promise to reduce travel time between Brasilândia and São Joaquim to about 23 minutes

The Metro Line 6-Orange reaches 81.5% completion and advances to expand rail offerings in the capital. The first section, between Brasilândia and Perdizes, is scheduled for delivery in 2026 and includes work with 15 underground stations.

With 15.3 km in length, the line will connect Brasilândia to São Joaquim in about 23 minutes. Today, the same journey can take approximately 1h30 by bus. Once operational, it is expected to serve 633,000 passengers per day.

Metro will have first section up to Perdizes

Known as the University Line, the 6-Orange will pass through areas near PUC, FAAP, Mackenzie, and Uninove. The route will also enhance the connection between the north zone, the west zone, and the city center.

The Água Branca, Santa Marina, and Perdizes stations are among the most advanced fronts, all with more than 90% completion. In these, work involves finalizing structures, finishing, system installation, and operational preparation.

Água Branca leads the progress of the works

The Água Branca Station is the most advanced, with more than 97% completion. It will integrate with lines 7-Rubi and 8-Diamante and is located 47.8 meters deep, equivalent to about 15 floors.

Santa Marina has about 94% completion and will serve a region between Barra Funda and Água Branca, near Unip, TV Cultura, and sports centers. Perdizes, with about 92%, will be the initial endpoint.

Automatic trains undergo testing

The new metro trains are undergoing tests. Each train will have six cars, a capacity for 2,044 passengers, automatic operation without a driver, and a speed of up to 90 km/h.

The expected interval between trains will be 75 to 90 seconds. The Line 6-Orange is a PPP of the Government of São Paulo with Linha Uni, with a complete connection to São Joaquim expected by 2027.
