Tourist complex planned for Praia Grande includes a pier over the sea, aeronautical museum, leisure areas, gastronomy, and events, with a promise to increase tourist activity in the Aviação neighborhood and create thousands of jobs between construction and operation.
Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, will have a new tourist pier in the Aviação neighborhood, with a planned structure of 500 meters long by 35 meters wide, areas open to the public, commercial services, cultural spaces, gastronomic options, and capacity for events.
Announced by the City Hall on January 16, 2026, the initiative will be implemented through public concession and aims to create a new point of stay for residents and tourists on the city’s waterfront.
A Aeronautical Museum is also planned, along with a replica of the plane associated with the movie “007 Against Octopussy,” a support parking lot with at least 600 spaces, and estimates of job creation during the construction and after delivery.

Venezuela Once Known as ‘Saudi Arabia’ of Latin America Now Faces Stark Economic Decline
According to the municipal administration, the proposal is to expand leisure options, strengthen tourism, and boost the local economy with activities related to culture, commerce, gastronomy, and services.
New tourist pier to be installed in the Aviação neighborhood
Measured from Avenida da Praia towards the sea, the structure will have free access to green areas and contemplation spaces, intended for both everyday leisure and visitor reception.
According to the City Hall, the development will bring together leisure, tourism, culture, commerce, and gastronomy activities, creating an alternative for staying beyond the traditionally sought-after sandy area in the city.
In the Aviação neighborhood, the pier’s implementation also aims to enhance a region linked to Praia Grande’s aeronautical history, a theme that will be incorporated into the cultural concept of the new facility.
The old Aviação Field runway was used by the National Air Mail starting in 1941, a reference that helps explain the choice of location and the memory proposal associated with the project.
With tourist use and urban coexistence in the same space, the complex is expected to house services aimed at the public, as well as host parties, performances, and events of different sizes, according to the final structure of the concession.
Aeronautical Museum will reference 007 and Saint-Exupéry
Among the planned attractions, the Aeronautical Museum appears as one of the most appealing points, with interactive activities and content focused on Praia Grande’s historical connection with aviation.
Within this space, there will be a replica of the French plane that landed in the city and later became known for appearing in the film “Octopussy”, from the James Bond franchise.
Another aspect of the project will be dedicated to the French aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of “The Little Prince”, whose journey is also connected to the aeronautical history of the region.
According to the City Hall, Saint-Exupéry used the city’s “airport” several times, information that reinforces the connection of the Aviação neighborhood with air routes and characters linked to international aviation.
By combining a museum, local memory, literary reference, and leisure structure, the complex aims to go beyond a commercial enterprise and offer attractions that do not rely exclusively on the summer season.
Parking will have at least 600 spaces
To accommodate the expected flow of visitors, the project includes a support parking lot with a minimum capacity for 600 vehicles, planned as part of the access infrastructure to the future tourist pier.
The area will be located on Guiana Inglesa Street, in the Aviação neighborhood, about 80 meters from the entrance of the development, according to information released by the Praia Grande City Hall.
With spaces close to the main access, the municipality seeks to organize the arrival of residents and tourists to the new facility, especially during periods of higher movement on the waterfront.
This planning is relevant because large tourist structures in coastal areas often require attention to traffic, vehicle parking, and integration with the surrounding urban routine.
In the consulted publication, the municipal administration did not provide a start date for the works, completion deadline, estimated investment value, or details of the concession notice.
For this reason, these points do not appear as confirmed data in the article and remain dependent on new official announcements regarding the implementation of the development.
Public concession should enable the work
Through a public concession, the construction of the pier will be structured with private participation in the implementation and operation of the facility, according to rules to be defined by the public authority.
The City Hall states that the project is part of a strategy to strengthen tourism and expand job creation in Praia Grande, with expected impacts on different economic activities.
During the construction phase, the estimated number disclosed is 500 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs, a number associated with the construction and services necessary to enable the development.
After delivery, the forecast reaches 1,000 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs, linked to the operation of the pier and the tourism, food, commerce, culture, and leisure sectors.
These official projections depend on the progress of the concession process, the execution of the work, and the operational model that will be adopted when the complex is in operation.
Until new stages are announced, the most reliable information is that the municipal administration presents the equipment as part of a policy to enhance the city’s tourist appeal.
Tourism in Praia Grande Beyond the Beach Season
Announced as a facility capable of diversifying tourism in Praia Grande, the new pier aims to enhance leisure offerings in a city marked by beach activity and the high season.
With a museum, commerce, gastronomy, and events, the structure aims to create an additional reason to visit the Aviação neighborhood, without relying solely on the traditional use of the shoreline during the warmer months.
The combination of public space, cultural activities, and private services can also extend tourists’ stay in the city by offering options for circulation, contemplation, and consumption within the same complex.
For residents, the promise involves a new social area on the waterfront, with free access to viewing points and leisure options integrated into the future tourist development.
Although presented as a new postcard, the real impact of the pier will depend on the completion of the concession, the execution of the work, the operation of services, and integration with traffic in the Aviação neighborhood.
Until new official documents are released, the City Hall confirms the project’s dimensions, planned uses, parking location, and employment estimates associated with the development.
