Unusual disposal of funeral coffins in an open area of Serra mobilized residents, Civil Police, and City Hall teams, while images of dismantled structures and a child model increased the case’s repercussion and maintained doubts about the origin of the abandoned material.

At least six funeral coffins were found improperly discarded on Monday (22), at Campo do Ipiranga, on Belo Horizonte Street, in the Alterosas neighborhood, in Serra, Espírito Santo.

Scattered in an open area used by the community, the material caught the attention of residents, mobilized the Civil Police, and also led Serra City Hall teams to check the situation on site.

According to the website Portal Tempo Novo, released images show structures of different sizes, models, and finishes, with part of the coffins open, dismantled, and with the internal lining exposed to the elements.

Among the abandoned items was a child model, a detail that increased the repercussion among residents and made the scene even more unusual for those who passed by Campo do Ipiranga.

Abandoned coffins draw attention in area used by the community

Known by the residents of the Alterosas neighborhood, Campo do Ipiranga is located on Belo Horizonte Street and is usually associated with community use, which increased the surprise at the disposal.

Since it is not common material in open areas, the presence of the coffins caused immediate strangeness and led the community to call authorities to investigate the origin of the objects.

Besides the unusual nature of the disposal, the condition of the pieces also drew attention, as some structures appeared open and dismantled, while others had the internal upholstery visible.

With the repercussion of the images, the case began to be monitored by municipal bodies and the Civil Police, who were on site to record the occurrence and gather information about the circumstances.

According to the Tempo Novo portal, the inspection by Serra City Hall was also called, but the authorship of the disposal had not yet been officially confirmed until the publication of the investigation.

City Hall investigates origin of discarded material

On Wednesday (24), teams from the Health Surveillance and the Department of Postures were on site to verify the situation and gather information about the origin of the abandoned coffins.

The Serra City Hall informed Folha Vitória that the irregular disposal of waste is an environmental crime and can result in a fine, according to the investigation conducted by the responsible agencies.

The municipal investigation seeks to identify who left the material on the land and what administrative measures can be taken after confirming the responsibility for the abandonment.

So far, there is no official confirmation about the origin of the coffins, nor any public indication of a company, person, or establishment that may be related to the disposal.

The available information only indicates that the objects were found at Campo do Ipiranga and that municipal bodies have started to investigate the origin of the material left in the open area.

Residents reported surprise at the scene

After images of the coffins scattered in the Alterosas neighborhood began circulating on social media, residents started commenting on the case and demanding explanations about the disposal.

The location in an open area of the community contributed to amplifying the reaction, especially because part of the structures was dismantled and exposed in an easily visible spot.

In a video cited by Folha Vitória, a resident stated that he was following the case to know what measures would be taken and said that there was already information about who had done the disposal.

Despite the statement, the authorities have not yet treated the authorship as officially confirmed, which keeps the investigation dependent on formal inquiry into the origin of the material.

For now, the reliable information is that the Civil Police and the Serra City Hall have been mobilized, while municipal teams checked the site and started investigating the abandonment.

Investigation tries to identify those responsible

The main question in the case is where the coffins came from and who was responsible for leaving them at Campo do Ipiranga, in the Alterosas neighborhood.

Since the material has funeral use and appeared in a public area, the occurrence has involved police investigation and administrative oversight to assess potential responsibility for the disposal.

The abandonment of the structures also raised concern about the proper disposal of waste related to funeral services, although there is still no official information about the previous condition of the coffins.

So far, the authorities have not informed whether the items were new, used, stock disposals, damaged pieces, or materials removed from any establishment related to the sector.

Without this confirmation, the investigation remains focused on identifying the origin of the material and the potential responsibility of those who left the structures in the open field.

The City Hall reported that competent teams were on site, but did not disclose a deadline for the conclusion of the case nor detailed if the coffins have already been collected.

The episode remains under investigation in Serra, with the authorship not yet officially confirmed.

The investigation should indicate whether there was an environmental infraction, who carried out the abandonment, and what measures will be taken by municipal and police authorities.
