A New Chapter for Energy Efficiency in Pará
Norte Energia, operator of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant, is starting a new chapter in energy efficiency by partnering with the FIEPA System (Federation of Industries of the State of Pará). This pioneering agreement, set to take effect in the second half of the year, promises to revolutionize energy supply for the 24 SESI and SENAI units in Pará, pledging a significant reduction in energy costs and marking an important advance in the Free Energy Market.
By embracing the Free Energy Market, Norte Energia and the FIEPA System are at the forefront of a crucial transformation in the energy sector, offering a more personalized, cost-effective, and efficient approach to energy supply.
Benefits and Advances in Energy Supply
Paulo Roberto Ribeiro Pinto, president of Norte Energia, highlights the partnership as a decisive moment, emphasizing the transition to the Free Energy Market as a milestone in cost optimization and service quality. The migration to this new model not only promises a substantial 35% reduction in the FIEPA System’s electricity bills but also ensures greater freedom in supplier choice and a more robust and reliable energy management.

Alex Carvalho, president of the FIEPA System, reinforces the importance of this initiative as part of a larger effort to implement sustainable management practices, aiming to reduce operational costs and expand the services offered by SESI and SENAI. This partnership not only optimizes energy management in the units but also reflects confidence in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management promoted by Norte Energia in the Xingu region, highlighting the commitment to clean energy, local development, and social and environmental responsibility.
A Sustainable and Efficient Future
The movement by Norte Energia and the FIEPA System is not isolated. According to the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), a growing trend of migration to the Free Energy Market is emerging, with around 14,600 Brazilian companies expected to make the transition between 2024 and 2025. The motivations for this change are clear: the pursuit of more competitive prices, renewable energy, and supply conditions that better align with companies’ needs.
This partnership between Norte Energia and the FIEPA System is more than an operational change; it is a step towards a future where energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovation go hand in hand. It represents a new era in energy supply, where efficiency, cost savings, and environmental responsibility are not only desirable but fully achievable.
