To Unlock New Job Opportunities for the Population of Piauí, Wex Plans to Install Its New Electric Motorcycle Factory in the Northeastern State. The Unit is Set to Begin Construction in 14 Months
The Governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias, sealed on Friday (05) an agreement to build a new electric motorcycle factory in the state that promises to generate numerous jobs. The Ceará-based company Wex plans to set up in the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) on the coast of Piauí and produce electric motorcycles for both the domestic and international markets. The company’s plan includes investments of R$ 60 million, generating 200 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs.

New Electric Motorcycle Factory Promises to Electrify the State of Piauí
The signing of the memorandum of understanding with the electric motorcycle manufacturer also had the presence of Rafael Fonteles, Secretary of Finance and Coordinator of Pro Piauí.
According to Fonteles, within the infrastructure developed in the municipality of Piauí, having a new factory linked to the ZPE, which is about to be inaugurated to attract and provide better conditions for bold entrepreneurs to settle in the state, applying investments, generating environmental sustainability, jobs, and income.
According to Wex partner Vicente Neto, during this constant rise in gasoline and other fossil fuel prices, everyone is looking for an electric alternative. Vicente emphasized that the company wants to bring this alternative to the population of Piauí at an affordable price, through its own financing, and also offering the solution of renting electric models for those who cannot afford to buy a vehicle.
Electric Mobility is Rapidly Spreading Across Brazil
The electric motorcycle manufacturer, Voltz, also plans to inaugurate an electric motorcycle store in Bahia as part of the company’s expansion plans, which already has units in São Paulo and Recife, in addition to over 30 pop-up units, which are small stores located in strategic locations, spread throughout Brazil.
In addition to the new unit in Bahia, Voltz also plans to build another 70 pop-up units, which will be added to the existing ones, reaching the company’s goal of having more than 100 active stores by the end of the year.
