The Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) has authorized a new competition in Brazil for 2025. There will be 60 immediate vacancies. The positions are Federal Auditor for External Control (AUFC) and Federal Technician for External Control (TFCE). All vacancies are for Brasília. The authorization was published in the Official Gazette of the Union on May 5, 2025. This is one of the most awaited federal competitions.

Official Authorization: What We Already Know About the New TCU Competition?

The authorization for the new competition in Brazil for TCU has been formalized. EDITAL Nº 1 – TCU/AUFC E TFCE, dated April 30, 2025, has given the green light. This initial document is not the complete announcement but the authorization decree. The detailed rules will be in the announcement for the opening of registrations. There will be 20 immediate vacancies for Auditor (higher education) and 40 for Technician (high school, currently).

There will also be a formation of a reserve list for both positions. All opportunities are for assignment at the headquarters of TCU in Brasília (DF). The president of TCU, Bruno Dantas, had already signaled the need for new staff due to a considerable deficit.

Positions and Salaries: Details of the Vacancies for Auditor and Technician at TCU

For Federal Auditor for External Control (AUFC), a higher education degree in any field is required. The responsibilities involve oversight and external control of federal public resources. The initial salary is updated to R$ 26,159.01, which can reach R$ 37,465.00 at the top of the career. Benefits include meal allowance (R$ 1,784.42), preschool (R$ 1,083.92), transportation (R$ 2,280.65), and medical assistance (R$ 807.00).

For Federal Technician for External Control (TFCE), the current requirement is high school. The tasks involve technical and administrative support. The initial salary is R$ 15,128.26, reaching R$ 21,091.67 at the end of the career. Benefits are expected to be similar to those of an Auditor. This new competition in Brazil offers attractive remuneration.

Last Chance for High School?

An important discussion involves the position of Technician (TFCE). This new competition in Brazil (TCU 2025) could be the last to require only a high school diploma for TFCE. An internal working group at TCU is studying raising the requirement to a higher education degree in future selections. This change would depend on amending Law No. 10,356/2001. A similar precedent occurred in the Federal Judiciary. The position of Judicial Technician has come to require a higher education degree, a change validated by the STF. This reinforces the possibility of change at TCU.

Announcement and Tips for Candidates for the New Competition in Brazil

With authorization, the next step is the choice of the examination board. The announcement for opening registrations should be published within six months. That is, by November 5, 2025, with speculation for July. This announcement will bring the complete schedule, program content, and final rules.
