The Brazilian Navy recently announced the 2023 public competition aimed at filling the Complementary Corps of Officers, offering a total of 10 vacancies for infantry officers, quartermasters, and naval officers.
The basic requirements for those interested in applying for the position include completing a higher education course related to the profession being competed for or being in the process of completion by the registration date, as well as being under 29 years old by January 2024.
Remuneration and Benefits in the Navy Competition
Candidates approved in all stages of the Navy competition, as per the announcement, will be referred to the course, which begins with an adaptation period (PA) lasting about three weeks and a curricular stage. During the course, the “Midshipman” will receive a remuneration of R$ 9,070.60, of which R$ 7,315 is related to the military soldier, R$ 1,389.85 is related to the military additional, and R$ 365.75 is related to the military availability compensation additional.

The approved officers will also be entitled to benefits such as meals, uniforms, medical-dental, psychological, social, and religious assistance, as per the published announcement. During the Officers Training Course (CFO), the “Midshipman” will undergo an Officers Application Internship (EAO) with different durations for each modality, being 1 week for QC-CA, 3 weeks for QC-IM, and 10 weeks for QC-FN.
Stages of the Navy Competition
Candidates for the Navy officer competition will be evaluated through objective tests of Professional Knowledge and English, essay, and complementary events. The last part will consist of the following stages: verification of biographical data, health approval, physical classification test (TAF), title exam, psychological evaluation, and document verification.
The Navy has already set the date for the written tests of the competition, which will take place on August 27 of this year. The tests will consist of an objective test and an essay, both with a maximum duration of four hours. Candidates will have to answer 50 questions, 40 of which will be on Professional Knowledge and 10 on English. It is important to remember that the Professional Knowledge section varies according to the Bachelor’s Degree chosen by the candidate.
The essay provided for in the competition announcement will be conducted on the same day, and the topic will be disclosed at the time of the test. To have their essay evaluated, candidates must write a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 lines. The evaluation criteria, as stated in the announcement, include structure and content, coordination and analysis, title and subject, and expression. It is important for candidates to be prepared to demonstrate their writing and argumentative skills.
Applications for the Competition and Announcement Released
Applications for the Navy selection process will be open from June 7 to 25, through the official Navy website, CLICKING HERE. The application fee is R$ 140, but candidates who meet certain requirements may request an exemption. The requirements are: being part of a family registered in the Cadastro Único for Social Programs (CadÚnico), with a monthly per capita family income equal to or less than half a minimum wage, as well as bone marrow donors, can request an exemption from the fee.
