Surprising Fuel Consumption: Up to 21.3 Km/L in Tests
The new Omoda 5 hybrid arrives in the Brazilian market with a bold proposal: to combine fuel efficiency, competitive pricing, and technology. In tests conducted in China, the model recorded 21.3 km/l in urban circuits and 18.2 km/l on highways.
These numbers stand out in a segment where economy significantly influences the purchasing decision. The SUV aims to demonstrate that it can compete on equal terms with already established models.
“Those who attended the Interlagos Festival in June have already met the newest Chinese SUV on the market. It will be launched in the country in two versions, with prices ranging from R$ 185,000 to R$ 205,000, and arrives in mid-October.”

Direct Rival of the Corolla Cross and Cheaper than the Compass
Repeating the strategy of other SUVs from the brand, the Omoda 5 HEV will be sold in Brazil in two versions: one more basic and another more equipped. Omoda Jaecoo’s bet is clear: to turn the car into a volume model, targeting directly at the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Despite this, the prices also position it as an alternative to the Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Tracker, Nissan Kicks, and others, in addition to being positioned below the Jeep Compass.
The hybrid system is powered by a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery and follows the HEV format (parallel hybrid), which is less complex than PHEVs, with lower maintenance costs and no need for external charging.
Tech Interior and Balanced Dimensions
With a length of 4.42 meters, a width of 1.83 m, a height of 1.59 m, and a wheelbase of 2.63 m, the Omoda 5 hybrid delivers mid-size SUV dimensions. The trunk, with 378 liters, provides adequate space for urban use and travel.
Inside, the model showcases a modern and tech-forward interior. The instrument panel and the multimedia center are integrated into a rectangular screen, supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
The finish is also a differentiator: the upper part of the dashboard is made of rubberized material, and areas covered in synthetic leather give a greater sense of refinement.
Hybrid SUV to Change the Game in Brazil?
The Omoda 5 hybrid arrives with competitive numbers, fuel consumption of up to 21.3 km/l, and prices ranging from R$ 185,000 to R$ 205,000, along with a tech package that promises to challenge its rivals.
The lingering question is: is the Brazilian consumer ready to invest in a hybrid SUV from a new brand in the country, instead of choosing the already established Corolla Cross and Compass?
And what about you, would you give the Omoda 5 a chance or prefer to stick with traditional models?
