From now on, any carelessness with mirrors can be costly, both financially and in terms of safety, and the Detran is ready to catch anything.
The story is this: since January, every popular car sold in Brazil must follow new safety rules. And guess what? Mirrors are at the center of this discussion. The new mirror law was created to improve visibility and eliminate dreaded blind spots. This applies to both regular vehicles and school buses, which have even more specific requirements.
What Changes with the New Mirror Law?
So what exactly has changed? To begin with, the resolution states that school vehicle mirrors must be adjusted so that the driver can see everything around the vehicle, without leaving any blind spots. This means that if you’re caught in this situation, you should prepare your wallet to pay R$ 195.23 in fines and also lose five points on your license. And with the new rules, the point tally on your driver’s license has become even riskier. Now, the limit is 40 points, but with several conditions that could complicate your life.
Therefore, the advice is clear: before leaving home, take a good look at your mirrors. If something is wrong, fix it right away. The new mirror law is no joke, and Detran will hold accountable those who slack off. Traffic safety is not optional, and this measure comes to reinforce that in a very direct way.
