According to Petrobras, the vessel is expected to arrive in Brazil in early July to operate in the Santos Basin. The other vessels will be delivered in July, August, and October. Earlier this year, the state-owned company contracted three more tankers, with deliveries scheduled for 2022.
The new oil tankers will be integrated into the current fleet of the state company, which currently includes 20 vessels that perform about 1,800 offloadings per year.
“With the high productivity presented by the pre-salt fields, we are investing and preparing our logistical infrastructure for the increase in oil production in the coming years. It is essential for us to be competitive, and logistics play an essential role interlinking, efficiently, the various links in the production chain,” highlights André Chiarini, Logistics Director.
The current capacity for offloading from the platforms is 2,067 thousand bbl/day and will increase to 2,262 thousand barrels of oil per day in 2022.
About the Eagle Petrolina Vessel Built for Petrobras Chartering
The Eagle Petrolina was built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in South Korea, where its three sister ships are currently under construction and are expected to be delivered later this year.
With a storage capacity of 1 million barrels of oil, the Eagle Petrolina was custom-designed for Petrobras by AET. The vessel is of Suezmax Dynamic Positioning (DP2) type, with high-power thrusters and dynamic positioning system.
This mechanism allows the vessel to stabilize automatically so that it remains stationary while receiving the oil being offloaded from the platforms’ tanks, ensuring safety and increasing operational efficiency.
