With the Delivery of the BYD XI’AN Ship, the Chinese Manufacturer Strengthens Its Global Logistics Capacity, Aiming for Greater Efficiency and Cost Reduction in the Transport of Its Electric Vehicles.
BYD, a Chinese leader in electric vehicle manufacturing, announced an important milestone in its global expansion. Last Saturday, the company officially received its fifth vehicle transporter ship, the BYD XI’AN. The delivery took place in Yizheng, Jiangsu province, representing a significant advancement for the automaker’s sales and supply chain structure.
BYD XI’AN: The New Maritime Giant of the Chinese Manufacturer
The BYD XI’AN is the latest addition to the company’s fleet. The ceremony of delivery officially marks the operation of BYD’s fifth vehicle transporter ship. Before this one, the company had already put four other ships into operation. These ships are responsible for transporting new energy vehicles from China to various global markets.
Specifications and Cargo Capacity of the Ship
According to BYD, the new ship has impressive dimensions. The BYD XI’AN is 219.9 meters long and 37.7 meters wide. Its structure features 16 decks designed for vehicles. The vessel operates at a service speed of 19 knots and has a remarkable cargo capacity, capable of transporting up to 9,200 vehicles per trip.

Clean Propulsion Technology and Energy Efficiency
One of the highlights of the BYD XI’AN is its cutting-edge technology. The ship employs a clean dual-fuel LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) propulsion system. This technology significantly improves the energy efficiency of the vessel. Furthermore, it enhances the ship’s performance in reducing pollutant emissions.
The Strategic Impact on BYD’s Global Logistics Chain
The deployment of these transporter ships is a key piece in the company’s strategy. According to the automaker, the fleet has significantly improved the efficiency of overseas deliveries. The in-house operation also reduces logistics costs and transport cycles. Thus, BYD accelerates its strategy for market participation and consolidation on a global scale.
