Nike has just announced mass layoffs of 1,400 employees, with the technology area being the most affected, while a company that was once exclusively dominant in the sports market loses more than half of its stock value in three years to competitors that few people knew.
The inauguration ceremony will be restricted to invited guests, featuring the presence of authorities such as the Minister of Ports and Airports of Brazil, Silvio Costa Filho, as well as representatives of the company responsible for the administration of the terminal, CCR Airports.
According to CCR Airports, the renovations began in September 2023, with an initial completion forecast for November of the same year.
However, the company managed to finish the work on schedule, avoiding the common delays in large infrastructure projects in Brazil.
Expansion In Strategic Areas
One of the main changes occurred in the check-in area, which was expanded from 115m² to 300m², increasing capacity by 162%.
This means that the service process will be more agile, reducing lines and making passenger flow much more efficient.
In addition, the boarding area also received special attention, being expanded from 320m² to 760m².
This expansion more than doubled its capacity, allowing for greater comfort and space for passengers during boarding and disembarking.
These changes represent a significant advancement for the airport’s infrastructure, which is now prepared to accommodate a larger number of passengers, especially during peak times and long holidays.
Administration And Contractual Commitments
All renovations were carried out based on the contract signed between CCR Airports and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
The company took over the management of Joinville airport in March 2022, with the responsibility to modernize and maintain the terminal in full operation.
Even during the renovations, the airport continued operating normally, without interruptions in air operations.
This demonstrates the efficiency and logistical planning applied by the company responsible for the works.
Impact On Aviation And The Local Economy
The expectation is that, with these structural improvements, the Joinville airport will gain new domestic and international routes, strengthening its position as a logistical and tourist hub in the southern region of Brazil.
The expansion of service areas may also attract new airlines, increasing competitiveness and offering more flight options and competitive fares for users.
Additionally, local economists expect the investment to bring a positive impact on the city’s economy and its surroundings, generating more jobs and stimulating sectors such as hospitality, tourism, and commerce.
Growth Prospects
The Joinville airport is now prepared to handle a growing demand for passengers, something that is expected to intensify in the coming years.
The expectation is that the city will receive an increasing number of visitors, both for business and leisure.

With million-dollar works finally delivered, Joinville airport is ready to begin a new chapter in the history of Brazilian aviation.
