Project Plans Super Data Centers Focused on Artificial Intelligence, Clean Energy and Creating Up to 100,000 Jobs on American Soil.

OpenAI, a reference in artificial intelligence, and Oracle, a cloud technology giant, announced an agreement. The partnership is valued at an impressive US$ 300 billion. The goal is to build a network of data centers in the United States. This is one of the largest recent deals in the cloud computing sector. According to The New York Times, the project has the potential to generate up to 100,000 jobs. Moreover, it will boost the infrastructure required for advanced AI models.

Project Stargate: The Gigawatt Infrastructure for the New Era of AI

The investment will be distributed over five years. It will enable the project named Stargate. The initiative will create data centers with a capacity exceeding 5 gigawatts. More than 2 million high-performance chips will be used. The aim is to meet the growing demand for AI processing in sectors such as health, education, energy, and finance.

OpenAI chose Oracle for its expertise in large-scale operations. The company’s work with sustainable solutions was also decisive. The first super data center will be built in Abilene, Texas. This signals a strategy of decentralizing infrastructure in the U.S.

International Partnership and the Geopolitical Weight of the Agreement

Project Stargate also has support from international investors. Among them are SoftBank and G42, a company based in the United Arab Emirates. The inclusion of these partners highlights the strategic relevance of AI infrastructure in the global landscape. The agreement reinforces the race for chips, clean energy, and secure data routes. In the UAE, the project aims to create a hub focused on research and development. The objective is to attract talent and companies in the sector.

The Potential for 100,000 Jobs and the Regulatory Challenges of the Project

It is estimated that the project will create up to 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. It includes engineers, suppliers, and technology professionals. The construction of the centers is also expected to boost industrial hubs in various regions of the U.S.

However, experts warn of the challenges due to the project’s scale. This includes the high energy consumption. It also encompasses the need for robust regulation and the impacts on the global semiconductor supply chain.

OpenAI and Oracle Accelerate in the New Race for Data Centers

The announcement comes in a context of strong global expansion of AI infrastructure. Microsoft, Amazon, and Google are already investing in similar mega-structures. However, the agreement between OpenAI and Oracle stands out for its magnitude and scope.

The “data center race” is expected to shape the course of digital transformation in the coming years. This will influence everything from industrial policies to international standards for technology and cybersecurity.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stated that the partnership will allow global scaling of AI advancements in a “sustainable and secure” manner. The president of Oracle emphasized that the agreement “marks a new milestone for global computing.” Construction in Texas is expected to begin in late 2025. New units are planned for other regions in the U.S. and the Middle East by 2027. The project also aims to invest in clean energy and the training of skilled labor.
