The Amount to Be Paid Comes from the Signing of a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC), to Reimburse the Municipalities for the Suspension of the Works of Comperj, Owned by Petrobras
As Click Petroleum and Gas had already published, Petrobras was involved in a process due to Comperj. Thus, Petrobras will sign with the Public Ministry of Rio (MPRJ), next Friday (02/08), a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) in the amount of R$ 815 million.
The amount is intended for the municipalities of São Gonçalo and Itaboraí, which will receive the funds as reimbursement for the suspension of the works of Comperj and all the damages caused consequently.
Petrobras must make the payment by the year 2021 and the money will be used to compensate for environmental impacts, such as reforestation of more than 5,000 hectares, environmental sanitation, as well as stormwater drainage and the urban mobility plan.

Other Municipalities Will Benefit
This is not the only reimbursement that Petrobras will have to make. Currently, there are five public civil actions pending in the MPRJ regarding the environmental impacts caused by Comperj.
According to prosecutor Tiago Gonçalves, responsible for the actions, the total value of the TACs could reach up to R$ 7.5 billion and the municipalities close to the undertaking will also be reimbursed, namely: Maricá, Tanguá, Rio Bonito, Cachoeira de Macacu, and Niterói.
“The TAC is the result of the assessment of all the economic, environmental, and social damages that the suspension of the works of Comperj generated in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The agreement will convert this damage into numbers and investments. The permanent commissions will monitor the execution of these TACs from Petrobras”, said deputy Luiz Paulo, chairman of the CPI of the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj) investigating the state’s fiscal crisis.
