Government launches PDE (2029 ten-year energy plan) which provides for a significant increase in oil production and new FPSOs
Bento Albuquerque, from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, launched yesterday (11) in Brasília, the Decennial Energy Plan (PDE 2029), which deals with the prospects for future expansion of the energy sector in 10 years. When it comes to the oil and gas sector, the expectation is for a 71% growth in oil production (5,5 million barrels per day in 2029) and 42 new FPSOs.

In the plan it says that the pre-salt will be responsible for around 77% of the national oil production, with the Santos Basin in the main scenario. The government also foresees that, with the increase in production associated with the marginal increase in refining capacity, Brazil will be able to assume the position of net oil exporter.

In the refining area, the plan considers that with the entry into operation of the emission abatement unit (SNOx) of the Abreu e Lima Refinery (Rnest) in 2021, the plant's first train will have the capacity to process 130 barrels per day (30% more). The second train, with the same refining capacity, will start operating in 2024.
In the natural gas market, the estimates are also positive. It is estimated that Brazil will arrive in 2029 with a total consumption of 87,6 million m³/day of natural gas, an increase of 10 million m³ in relation to the value projected for 2019.
