According to the entity, fifteen workers showed signs of contamination in the last two weeks. Six of them tested positive for the disease. Seven people are still awaiting test results. Two have already shown symptoms.
Sindipetro-NF claims that workers are requesting testing to be done upon disembarkation to prevent the virus from being taken home. “On August 10, ten workers disembarked normally during the crew change and none of them showed symptoms. However, at home, three workers showed symptoms, two tested positive for covid-19 and one is awaiting test results,” the union stated.

Furthermore, the entity stated that the Internal Accident Prevention Committee (CIPA) of the P-12 requested a reduction in the number of people on board. The unit is in an accelerated deactivation process, which caused the number of workers to rise from 60 to 79, while the safe limit would be a maximum of 62.
CIPA also requested that a company conduct testing for the workers on the P-12. Embarkation took place on the 17th, despite Petrobras’ Organizational Response Structure (EOR), which monitors the new coronavirus, having stated that this “is not the protocol that is being applied and that adequately monitors the workforce regarding health conditions and covid-19 symptoms.”
“There is a serious complaint that workers who had covid-19 are being fired after being discharged. This is causing embarrassment among the category when reporting symptoms, and many do not report out of fear of losing their jobs. Hence the need to comply with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that mandates the issuance of Work Accident Communication (CAT) for contaminated workers. This has already been requested to management, which has not responded,” they added.
Finally, Sindipetro-NF reported the dismissal of a CIPA member who allegedly made “strong demands” to Petrobras and stated that it has “pressed authorities linked to Operation Ouro Negro to take concrete actions demanding that oil companies implement measures to tackle the pandemic of the new coronavirus.”
Petrobras P-12 Platform Auctioned
The P-12 is one of the platforms that was auctioned and is still anchored, so Petrobras is rushing to deliver the unit, as the cost of the entire process of removing the platform is expected to exceed R$ 100,000 per day.
