FPSOs
charter model must be the BOT

The intention of the individual conversation is to define the best model for hiring the FPSOs that Petrobras intends to hire in the coming years.

The FPSO sector is waiting for a great demand, as we have previously published here on our portal, therefore, Petrobras has been inviting each of the FPSO manufacturers to talks.
The purpose of the workshops is to diversify the contracting model, since the last units chartered were through the charter model and new forms are being tried by the state-owned company with the charterers.

A new model, which Petrobras has questioned about the interest of charterers, is the BOT (Built Operate Transfer), where the charterer builds the FPSO, operates for 3,4, 5 or XNUMX years and transfers it to the field operator.
The BOT model must be used in at least one of the FPSOs to be chartered later this year, more precisely in the second half, Petrobras will issue three public notices, one for the third production unit at Mero and one for Itapu, both projects by Santos Basin, and another for Sergipe-Alagoas.

The market bets that in the Itapu field, the bet is that the BOT be adopted for the FPSO charter model.

The meetings between Petrobras and the charterers began in April and are being held at the company's headquarters in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Petrobras is conducting the meetings by the managers of the Production & Technology Development and Corporate Affairs areas of Petrobras.

who will talk

Today, Thursday (02/05), representatives of the companies Ocyan and BW Offshore attended for talks and in the coming days SBM, Modec, Teekay, Saipem, Bluewater, Yinson and Bumi Armada, among others, are expected.
By the number of participating companies, one has an idea of the strength of demand for FPSOs by Petrobras in the coming years and the degree of importance that a joint definition will have in the success of the business.

Only two FPSOs operating today for Petrobras were contracted under the BOT regime, the P-57, initially contracted with SBM Offshore, and the P-63, which is in charge of BW Offshore.

The next Petrobras FPSOs

When expectations are confirmed, the FPSO for Itapu, with capacity to produce 120 bopd, should be the next to use this contracting model and will start production in 2023.
FPSO 3 at Mero will have the capacity to produce 180 bopd, with first oil scheduled for 2022, and the deepwater FPSO at Sergipe-Alagoas is projected to produce 100 bopd, starting in 2023.

Petrobras has just signed a 5-year contract with OSS Tiradentes! Access here and stay informed!
