Petrobras Platforms Installed in ES Would Be Decommissioned by EPIC Which Won the Bid in June, but the Company Was Disqualified by the Oil Company
In June, Click Oil and Gas had reported that EPIC had won the bid to decommission Petrobras’ fixed platforms Cação 1, 2, and 3.
However, the state-owned company made the decision to disqualify EPIC Applied Technologies from the competition, where it participated and won with a bid 20% below that of the second place.
The bidding, according to the notice, provides for the dismantling and removal of all structures, such as bridges, cranes, topsides, and jackets from the three fixed platforms (PCA-1, 2, and 3), which are under the responsibility of UO-ES.

The reason for the disqualification would have been the judicial recovery request filed in the U.S. Justice by the North American group EPIC Companies, of which it is a part.
EPIC Applied Technologies submitted a proposal of US$ 30.1 million and won the Petrobras competition, with William Jacob Management coming in second with a bid of US$ 37.8 million.
Petrobras has not officially confirmed the disqualification, nor has it announced when negotiations will begin with the second place for the dismantling of the platforms that are installed on the coast of São Mateus, in the northern state of Espírito Santo.
EPIC Applied Technologies is based in Houston, USA, and is a conglomerate of five business units: Heavy Lift, Diving and Marine, Well Services, EOT Cutting, and TSB Offshore.
The company operates in the decommissioning, installation, and maintenance markets and, according to Petrobras’ notice, should start offshore operations by July 2020.
