Winner of One of the Largest Decommissioning Processes of Petrobras, EPCI Will Dismantle the Platforms of the Cacao Field
Finally, the winner of one of the most anticipated bidding processes for decommissioning in the market has been revealed. EPIC Applied Technologies will carry out the dismantling of the structures of the three fixed platforms of Petrobras, in the Cacao field in the Campos Basin.
EPIC won the competition with a price 20% lower than the second place, William Jacob Management. The price presented by the company was US$ 30.1 million compared to US$ 37.8 million from the competitor.
EPIC also beat out nine other companies, with Triunfo presenting a proposal of US$ 38.5 million, Allseas with a price of US$ 40.9 million, Brasil-Mota Consortium with US$ 43.2 million, Saipem with US$ 46.1 million, Alphatec with US$ 50.3 million, Sapura Energy with US$ 51.9 million, McDermott with US$ 73.5 million, Sacanb Offshore with US$ 77.4 million, and SS Naval presenting US$ 200 million.

According to the bidding document, EPIC will have to dismantle and remove all structures, such as walkways, cranes, topsides, and jackets from the three fixed platforms (PCA-1, 2, and 3), which are under the responsibility of UO-ES.
About the Company
EPIC Applied Technologies is based in Houston, USA, and is a conglomerate of five business units: Heavy Lift, Diving and Marine, Well Services, EOT Cutting, and TSB Offshore.
The company operates in the decommissioning, installation, and maintenance markets, and according to Petrobras’ bidding document, it is expected to start offshore operations by July 2020.
From the beginning of offshore operations, the company will have 90 days to start the final disposal of the structures and equipment it dismantles.
Petrobras has not yet defined where these materials will be stored after being removed from the structures, but the modules and jackets will be cut and destined for scrap.
The contract with Petrobras has a duration of two years and will come into effect in March 2020.
