With the Revitalization of the Tupi Field, Petrobras Aims to Open Opportunities for Drilling, Equipment, and Pipeline Sectors
Petrobras plans to revitalize the Tupi Field, even before the decline in production of the asset. According to the company’s management, this measure can add more value to the oil field and, obviously, will further increase oil recovery, making it the largest producer in deep waters today.

The state-owned company has also managed to signal which areas may benefit from the revitalization project, such as drilling, underwater equipment, and pipelines.
Carlos Alberto Pereira Oliveira, director of exploration and production at Petrobras, stated that “What we perceive is that instead of waiting for the decline of the field to then make investments, we have the possibility of making investments even before that, always completing the idle capacity of existing platforms. This adds a lot of value.”

“Our goal in Tupi is to create resilient projects in this low oil price scenario, with the aim of adding maximum value to the field. By making this move, we will add a lot of value to the field, ultimately allowing us to increase the recovery factor,” said the director.
The director of exploration and production of the company stated that the investments related to the revitalization process will relate to complementary development, drilling of oil wells, and interconnection of existing platform pipelines. He also mentioned that the company is still analyzing whether it needs a new production system: “It’s very preliminary to talk about this.”
Rudimar Lorenzatto, director of production development, said that “Certainly [the revitalization] will involve densifying the network with other wells and other lines. The supply market that will certainly participate in this will be drilling, completion, underwater equipment. [Also] flexible or rigid pipelines, depending on the decision we make in the conceptual project, aligned with resilience and with an increase in the recovery factor.”
