Ocyan’s ODN I Rig Returns to Drilling Campaign in Petrobras’ Sagittarius Field Five Years After Discovery
An exploration project that seemed abandoned by Petrobras is back in action after more than 5 years. The Sagittarius field is being drilled by Ocyan’s ODN I rig. See Also! Sergipe Basin Set to Receive ExxonMobil Drilling as Early as 2020!
The Sagittarius field was declared in 2014 to have a hydrocarbon column of 159 meters and was reported at the time to have high-quality oil, specifically 32° API.
Petrobras plans to use Ocyan’s rig until reaching depths of over 6,600 meters. The Sagittarius field is located in the S-M-623 block of the pre-salt Santos Basin,
The state-owned company resumed work in Sagittarius through drilling in an extension of the project, the 3-BRSA-1370-SPS, in the Santos pre-salt.

Cuba is without fuel, without energy, and without a way out, but a 21-year-old young man set up a homemade solar panel factory that has already equipped more than 15 electric tricycles, increased the vehicles’ range, and is saving the livelihood of workers who no longer had a way to get around the island’s streets.

A strong cold front is advancing across Brazil now, but researchers warn that extreme heat is expected to increase, affect work capacity, reduce people’s income, and cause billion-dollar economic losses in the coming decades.
Decline in Drilling
So far, 6 exploratory wells have been drilled in the Brazilian offshore, which, when added to the other 24 production and injection wells, total 24.
The number of rigs used was a total of 16, including wellhead platforms, such as those of Equinor, in the Peregrino Field, WHP-A and B.
If this pace continues, we will not have good news for drilling companies. By the end of the year, we should see another decline in numbers.
The average number of wells drilled, combining exploration and production and injection wells, in the Brazilian offshore, has been 45 to 50 per year, and with just over 3 months left in the year, it is quite likely that this number will not be reached.
A clear indication of this fact is Petrobras’ absence from drilling activities; the company’s only campaign consisted of two wells in the Sergipe Basin, where it plans to install two FPSOs.
