A couple built a house of over 100 m² by themselves on a 5,000 m² farm, spent more than a year without weekends, and now shows the unfinished home that has become a symbol of faith, effort, and a new beginning in the countryside.

The veranda, the burnt cement, and the fireplace that became a charm

It was under a light drizzle that Paulo and Nati decided to open the doors and show for the first time, in a video published on May 29, 2026, on the channel Simplicidade na Roça, every corner of the house they built alone on a five-thousand-square-meter farm in Paraná. The tour through the spaces revealed much more than walls and floors: it revealed a way of living built on patience and work.

Despite the more than one hundred square meters of built area, the couple insists that everything was born from simplicity, not luxury. Each wall raised on the farm represents a piece of an old dream that finally came out of imagination and took shape.

A plan that existed only in their minds

The most striking point in the whole story is the absence of a formal project. There was no plan delivered by an architect, nor ready calculations in hand. All the room divisions, the position of the bathrooms, and even the location of the staircase were thought out by the residents themselves, who mentally designed how the house should look.

This planned improvisation was repeated in important decisions. The bathroom on the ground floor, for example, was positioned in a strategic spot precisely because another bathroom was planned for the upper floor. The choice, according to Paulo and Nati, worked out and fit well within the structure, showing that intuition worked where paper was not present.

The porch, the polished concrete, and the fireplace that became a charm

Right at the entrance, the porch was designed in a specific style to allow for the construction of the second floor, an old wish of the couple. The polished concrete floor was the provisional choice that ended up making cleaning easier during the construction, before the future application of ceramic. The result was so pleasing that they consider the current finish beautiful on its own.

The fireplace was another risky bet that paid off. Many followers warned that the brick of the fireplace could crack due to the heat, but the couple explained that the same material is already used in the property’s stove without any problems. The piece, which they feared would look ugly, ended up becoming one of the charms of the front of the house, still awaiting cladding and decoration.

The table made after work hours and the partnership that moved them

Inside the spacious living room, a piece of furniture carries enormous emotional weight. The table was built gradually, always after work, even with accumulated fatigue. For the couple, it represents not just a functional object, but a physical record of nights of effort dedicated to doing everything with their own hands.

The emotion increased when the decoration store Paixone Decore got in touch proposing a partnership and sent chairs that matched the environment. For Paulo and Nati, deeply religious, this detail was interpreted as a sign of divine care. The arrival of the pieces, according to the couple, completed the table that seemed destined to remain unfinished for a long time.

Kitchen, laundry, and the pantry that was an old dream

The kitchen still holds temporary solutions. The current sink is temporary, and the couple intends to build a complete version, including the basin, since the desired model is expensive in the market. The idea is for the resident to execute the work themselves, maintaining the logic of producing at home what would be expensive to buy ready-made.

Next to the kitchen are the laundry room, a corridor, the bathroom, and the guest room, still unfinished. One of the most celebrated spaces is the pantry, a desire that was born after a visit to a friend’s house. Now organized, it still awaits only details like a curtain, which will be made with fabric received as a gift.

The staircase, the challenge that seemed impossible

Going up to the second floor required facing what the couple classifies as one of the most difficult tasks of the entire construction. Building a staircase in a tight space, without prior experience, was a real risk. They knew that this stage would test all the confidence placed in the mental project they carried.

The result, however, exceeded expectations. The structure was firm and within the style they imagined, ensuring access to the upper part of the residence. For the residents, overcoming this obstacle reinforced the feeling that they were capable of achieving much more than they believed when they started.

The upper floor still halfway and the room waiting for children

On the upper floor, almost everything is unfinished. There are openings that will still become windows and doors, as well as pending electrical installations. One of the openings will overlook the land, and part of the back construction is on hold because the ordered wood still needs to dry at the sawmill before being delivered.

Among the spaces already defined is the room intended for the children. The couple mentioned, naturally, that they do not have children yet and plan to undergo treatment to fulfill this wish. The access to the bathroom was planned to allow shared use in the future, a detail that shows how the family’s dream was present from the first draft.

The upper balcony, the lake, and the view they always wanted

At the top of the house, the second-floor balcony offers the scenery that motivated much of the project. From there, it is possible to see the entire property, with forest and a lake in front. The couple makes a point of clarifying that it is a lake, not a river, dismissing any risk of flooding that could threaten the structure.

Before finishing windows and painting this floor, however, they decided to prioritize the installation of a handrail. The justification is safety, as they move around the space all the time and fear distractions that could cause accidents. The wood has already arrived, and this will be one of the next stages recorded on the channel.

More than a year without rest and a routine of pure dedication

The construction took more than a year of uninterrupted work. There were no holidays or weekends off during this period, and the rare moments of rest happened only during visits to their parents, occasions when they still ended up helping with some task. The fatigue was great, but the couple says they would do it all over again.

External help was minimal. The only collaboration came from Nati’s sister, who was present to assist with the heavy landfill work. Everything else, according to the couple, was done by the two of them, starting from scratch on a plot that had absolutely nothing when the work began.

The next steps and the details that are still missing

The list of pending tasks remains extensive. The couple plans to build an outdoor kitchen dedicated to the wood stove, with an oven and barbecue, creating a cozy environment separate from the main area. The idea of keeping the wood stove in its own room explains, in fact, why the piece was not installed inside the house.

There is also a project to heat the water through the same wood stove, bringing heating to the shower and kitchen sink. The property also needs to be fully fenced with mesh, as it currently only has wire. Among the desires is the construction of a gate and the placement of a sign with the name of the space, named “Happy Retreat,” executed as the material arrives.

The pet spider that got a name

Amidst the seriousness of the work, a curious detail amuses those who follow the content. The couple keeps spiders around the house and treats one of them as a pet, ensuring that they are not dangerous specimens. The animals usually hide behind the wood and only appear at night, posing no risk to anyone.

The story even led to moments of confusion with visitors. One of the family members tried to attack the animal out of ignorance before being informed that it was welcome. The most famous spider was named “Brunilda,” and the residents ask that visitors just leave her in her corner, in a peaceful coexistence that has already become a trademark.

From signed work card to income on the internet

A life change also involved the means of livelihood. The couple mentioned that they needed to keep formal jobs due to financial necessity, even in the face of health issues, such as a knee problem Paulo had that would require time off. The income was indispensable, and giving it up was not an option at that moment.

Today, their livelihood comes from the Simplicidade na Roça channel and partnerships established with brands. The residents state that through digital work, they manage to achieve the equivalent of what they earned in their previous jobs. For them, this return is a direct result of the support from the audience that follows every step of the construction.

Now we want to know your opinion. Would you have the courage to undertake the construction of your own home with your own hands, even facing more than a year without rest? What impressed you the most in this journey: the staircase, the pantry, the fireplace, or the so-called Brunilda? Leave your comment, share your experience, and share this story with someone who also dreams of having a little place in the countryside.
