Braskem Petrochemical Secures Billion-Dollar Contracts With Petrobras

According to Petrobras, naphtha will serve the São Paulo unit, and ethane and propane will be destined for the industrial unit in the state of Rio de Janeiro

Petrobras announced last night in a relevant fact the celebration of new long-term billion-dollar contracts estimated at R$16.5 billion with Braskem for the supply of naphtha, ethane, and propane. Good news for shipbuilding, WilsonSons will build a series of six tugboats at the company’s shipyard in São Paulo!

According to Petrobras’ statement, naphtha will serve the industrial unit in the state of São Paulo, while the supply of ethane and propane will be destined for the industrial unit in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Estimated at R$ 19 billion, the billion-dollar naphtha contract will take effect on the present date (12/23), after the current contract ends, and will be valid until December 31, 2025. The quantity is up to 2 million tons per year.

According to Petrobras, the contract for ethane and propane, estimated at R$ 7.6 billion, will take effect on January 1 of next year, after the current contract ends, and will also be valid for five years.

The contractual quantities of ethane and propane combined are equivalent to Braskem’s production of 580,000 tons of ethylene per year.

“The contract prices are based on international references”, says Petrobras.

Petrobras discovers high-quality oil and reinforces the potential of the pre-salt in the Búzios field

The Brazilian oil company Petrobras announced on the afternoon of this day (12/22) in a relevant fact that it confirmed the presence of high-quality oil with the drilling of well 9-BUZ-48D-RJS, located at the extreme northwest of the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin.

According to the report, the well is located 188 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro and was drilled at a water depth of 1,850 meters. Tests conducted from a depth of 5,540 meters confirmed the presence of high-quality oil reservoirs.
