Large-Scale Work Underway
The long-awaited Guaratuba Bridge, which will have a length of 1,244 meters, is in full execution.
The project has received support from various entities and local authorities, notably from the Vice Governor of Paraná, Darci Piana, who led a technical visit to the construction site alongside representatives from the Construction Industry Union of Paraná (Sinduscon-PR), the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Paraná (CREA-PR), the Engineering Institute of Paraná (IEP), and the Pro-Paraná Movement, as well as other authorities, including former Governor Orlando Pessuti.
This delegation aimed to closely monitor the progress of the construction, which has already reached 35.3% completion to date.
According to Piana, the project is progressing vigorously, with a completion forecast for April 2026. In his words, “another dream of the people of Paraná becoming a reality.”
During the visit, the engineering coordinator of the Nova Ponte Consortium, Álvaro Cavalcanti, presented details about the project, including the progress of construction both in the sea and at the central worksite, which is essential for the project’s advancement.
The Strategic Importance for the State
The president of the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER/PR), Fernando Furiatti, was also present at the technical visit and emphasized the significance of the project.
“This may be the last year we make the ferry crossing.
We needed the bridge and faced various challenges. Many people were against it, but since we are stronger and many people are also in favor, we have reached 35% construction completion today.
We are confident that in April 2026 we will deliver this project,” Furiatti declared, visibly excited about the progress of the works.
The construction of the bridge will not only facilitate vehicle traffic but will also bring economic and social benefits to the region, which suffers from the overloading of the ferry crossing.
The expectation is that the bridge will significantly reduce travel time between the municipalities of Guaratuba and the rest of the Paraná coast, as well as positively impact the local tourism sector.
Characteristics and Specifications of the Guaratuba Bridge
With an estimated cost of R$ 386.9 million, the Guaratuba Bridge promises to be one of the most modern in Paraná.
The structure will feature four traffic lanes, two safety lanes, rigid concrete barriers, sidewalks with bike lanes, and guardrails at the ends.
