Choosing a car in the R$ 84 thousand range has become a challenge. For many consumers, the most obvious options include entry-level models like Renault Kwid or Fiat Mobi. However, when the alternative of a well-kept 2016 Honda Civic LXR arises, the comparison changes immediately.

A fully equipped medium sedan with comfort, space, and a still very current mechanical set raises an inevitable question: why not invest in a used car of a higher category, with performance and quality far above basic zero-km models?

The Design That Ages Well and Maintains Its Appeal

The 2016 Civic LXR stands out for its timeless appearance. Despite featuring halogen lighting and lacking LEDs, front sensors, or modern elements from the latest generation, the front remains imposing. Even with nearly ten years of use, the model retains a striking presence that still draws attention in traffic.

Honda has always been recognized for creating cars that age elegantly, and this is clearly evident in this generation. It’s no coincidence that, in many dealerships, a well-maintained Civic arrives and leaves quickly.

For those who dislike the “stretched” sensation of CVT, this classic transmission is a relief. Additionally, the model features paddle shifts on the steering wheel, allowing for manual shifts.

On the sides, the Civic presents features that highlight its higher category. 17-inch wheels, independent suspension on all four wheels, and disc brakes in all positions are items that many zero-km cars today do not offer, even in higher price ranges. This illustrates how this model was designed with a focus on quality and drivability.

The 449-liter trunk confirms the sedan’s family vocation. It opens with a key or internal command, providing ample space and a conventional spare tire, something increasingly rare. The integrated taillight on the trunk lid, a feature widely used today, was already present in the 2016 model.

Rear Comfort and an Annoying Detail in the Armrest

The rear space is generous, with comfortable and ergonomically shaped seats. The finish combines plastic and soft-touch surfaces, reinforcing Honda’s attention to passenger experience. The only criticism is regarding the armrest, which could be longer to provide more comfort for those traveling in the back. Still, the model delivers good overall ergonomics and well-finished doors, with automatic window controls.

Upon entering the front, the driver encounters the classic dashboard of this generation, with a digital speedometer at the top and an analog tachometer at the bottom. The digital air conditioning, the original sound system, and the screen displaying the rearview camera form a functional set for the car’s proposal. The camera positioned on the upper dashboard may seem a bit distant, but it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

The steering wheel gathers controls for audio, phone, and cruise control. There’s also the ECON button, complete internal lighting, and ample storage compartments. The finish follows the standard of the era: good quality plastic and some soft areas on the doors. No excessive luxury, but with the solidity for which the Civic became known.

Driving Experience: Surprising Visibility and Enjoyable Driving

While driving the 2016 Civic LXR, one characteristic immediately stands out: the enormous field of vision. The elongated windshield and lowered dashboard allow for an unusually broad view of the road, benefiting drivers of any height and facilitating day-to-day driving.

The independent suspension strikes a balance between firmness and comfort, providing security in curves and smoothness on uneven surfaces. The five-speed transmission responds well, with quick and progressive shifts. In accelerations and overtaking, the sedan shows a readiness that continues to surprise. At high speeds, it maintains impeccable stability and alignment.

In the Brazilian market, Honda is experiencing a peculiar moment, with few models selling well. Today, City and HR-V sustain the brand among the most sought after. The new Civic, now hybrid and imported, has become too expensive, easily surpassing R$ 250 thousand, which has limited its presence on the streets.

Meanwhile, the Civic from previous generations remains valued for its balance between construction, performance, and reliability. It is precisely this scenario that makes the 2016 LXR a highly competitive option for those seeking quality above cutting-edge technology.
