Payment Blockages Due to Lack of Life Proof Were Suspended for Six Months Starting January 1, 2025, but Proof Remains Mandatory and Is Done Through Automatic Data Cross-Referencing.
The Ordinance MPS No. 83/2025 determined the suspension, for 6 months, of payment blockages due to lack of life proof at INSS, starting on January 1, 2025 with possibility of extension. According to the government, annual proof remains mandatory, but it is INSS itself that validates the beneficiary’s life through official database matching, preferably biometric.
The 2025 ordinance follows 2024 regulations that moved the counting marker to 10 months after the last life proof (or benefit update), no longer starting from the month of the beneficiary’s birthday, reinforcing the life proof through data cross-referencing model.
As of the publication of this text, we did not locate a new ordinance in the Official Gazette that extends beyond the initial six-month period; the published rule only authorizes extension. Beneficiaries should check their individual status on Meu INSS.

Life Proof 2025 Remains Mandatory, but INSS Conducts the Check
The annual life proof has not been suspended. What has been temporarily suspended is the automatic blockage due to lack of proof. INSS continues to conduct the proof through government databases and partnerships, prioritizing biometric data.
In practice, the system validates life when it identifies official interactions from the citizen. The goal is to reduce travel and prevent fraud without interrupting payments for those who are compliant.
It is important to note that those who prefer can actively provide proof at the paying bank or through the Meu INSS app.
Which Data Counts as “Life Proof” in Automatic Cross-Referencing
INSS considers “signs of life” captured from official databases. Among them: access to Meu INSS with a gold seal; biometrics when receiving the benefit or in payroll loans; in-person appointments at INSS; medical expertise; updates in CadÚnico (by the family responsible); and other acts with biometrics. These events are analyzed within a 10-month cycle from the last proof.
Other sources, such as vaccination, document issuance/renewal, and voting, are considered in the interoperability phase, meaning they depend on system integration to be widely applicable. Do not confuse: “voting always counts” is not a rule implemented throughout the country.
Deadlines: 10 Months + Notification and 60 Days Before Potential Blockage
Under the current model, INSS has up to 10 months after the last life proof to identify valid interactions. If none are found, the insured is notified and receives another 60 days to regularize through official channels before any blockage. The suspension of blockages brought by MPS 83/2025 froze this step for six months in 2025.
During the suspension, there is no automatic cut for lack of life proof; however, the recommendation is to keep data and contacts updated in Meu INSS to avoid notifications and respond to any confirmation requests.
How to Check Your Status on Meu INSS and Avoid Scams
To check the date of your last life confirmation, access Meu INSS (app or website) or call 135. The portal displays the status of the proof and guides the next steps if necessary.
Attention to scams: INSS does not send agents to collect documents at home via WhatsApp or charge fees. In case of doubt, confirm directly through official channels.
What Changes with MPS 83/2025 and What to Observe Going Forward
The central novelty of 2025 was the temporary suspension of blockages due to lack of life proof, with an initial validity period between January 1 and June 30, 2025, extendable for another equal period by act of MPS. The rule does not eliminate the annual obligation or the data cross-referencing.
If there is an official extension, it should be published in the Official Gazette. In the meantime, keep your registration updated, use the gold seal on gov.br, and if necessary, provide active life proof at the bank or on Meu INSS.
Do you think that the temporary suspension protects retirees and pensioners or opens a loophole for fraud? Is the automatic data cross-referencing an effective way for INSS to verify life? Share your opinion in the comments.

Sim, o cruzamento de dados é uma maneira efetiva na minha opinião.
