Works Begin This Semester and Promise to Improve Urban Mobility, Security, and Logistics in the Coast of Paraná.
The works to restructure the access roads to the Port of Antonina, on the Coast of Paraná, will begin this semester. With an investment of R$ 18 million from the public company Portos do Paraná, the project promises to transform urban mobility and logistics in the region.
The initiative was authorized after the issuance of the Simplified Environmental License (LAS) by the Water and Land Institute (IAT), an agency linked to the State Secretariat for Sustainable Development. The revitalization covers 4.6 kilometers of the main roads connecting the port to the city: Avenida Conde Matarazzo and Rua Engenheiro Luiz Augusto Leão da Fonseca.
Port of Antonina: Works Will Ensure More Durability and Safety
The new pavement will be concrete, a more durable material with lower maintenance costs than traditional asphalt. In addition, it will provide more safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

China is designing a container ship with a thorium nuclear reactor that will operate for 40 years without refueling, and the 25,000-container giant from Jiangnan Shipyard will cross oceans without emitting carbon in an industry that burns 300 million tons of fuel per year.

An entire boat came out of the 3D printer without a mold and without seams: CEAD’s giant robot creates hulls up to 12 meters in a single piece, replacing months of shipyard work with code and putting shipbuilding on the brink of a turning point that seems like science fiction.

The “dock ship” that deliberately sinks to swallow superyachts like toys: Yacht Servant is 214 meters long, 46 meters wide, has a 6,380 m² deck, and uses float-on/float-off operation to transform maritime luxury into a semi-submersible parking lot.

The French titanium submarine that descends where the light disappears: Nautile carries three people to a depth of 6,000 meters, reaches 97% of the ocean floor, and has already investigated the Titanic, underwater volcanoes, and regions that remain inaccessible to most vessels on the planet.
“It is an intervention with a significant impact on the population, both in terms of organizing the heavy truck traffic and in the mobility of families living around these roads,” said Altamir Hacke, head of the IAT’s regional office on the Coast.
Urban Infrastructure Will Be Modernized
The project includes a series of urban improvements:
- Construction of accessibility ramps
- Implementation of bike lanes
- New bus shelters
- Sidewalk renovations
- Updated road signage
- Drainage system to prevent flooding
“These are works that bring improvements to the city and safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, as they are some of the main access roads to the city center and the Port of Antonina,” highlighted Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná.
Planning and Sustainability
The City Hall of Antonina was responsible for designing the project and monitored technical studies, such as soil surveys.
The goal is to ensure quality execution and minimize traffic impacts with planned alternative routes during the works.
During the licensing process, technical issues were analyzed, such as:
- Liquid effluent control
- River drainage
- Noise emission
- Solid waste management
The Port of Antonina is experiencing a growth phase. In 2024, it handled 1.9 million tons, a 47% leap compared to the previous year.
The terminal operates with sugar, fertilizers, and other products, being managed by Portos do Paraná, a company nationally recognized for its management.
Completion of the Works
The forecast is that the restructuring will be completed by the first semester of 2026. The modernization of the roads represents an important step for logistical efficiency.
With a focus on safety, mobility, and economic growth, the investment in the works at the Port of Antonina consolidates the strategic importance of the region for the Brazilian port sector.
