Renovated Infrastructure of Cabedelo Port Boosts the Economy of Paraíba and Positions the Terminal for the International Scenario.

Cabedelo Port, one of the main logistical assets of Paraíba, has just undergone a new structure following an investment exceeding R$ 300 million. The inauguration, held on Monday (5), marked a new phase for the port terminal, which now stands out for modernization, expanded capacity, and pioneering in the use of solar energy among public ports in Brazil.

The project is seen as strategic for the economic growth of the region and places the state on the global trade route.

Modernization Strengthens the Economic Role of Cabedelo Port

Located in the city of Cabedelo, in the Greater João Pessoa area, the port has undergone extensive transformation in its infrastructure.

The investment allocated over R$ 200 million for the requalification of the jetty and the dredging of the channel, which now has a depth of 11 meters.

This allows the operation of ships of up to 55 thousand tons, tripling the logistical capacity of the site.

According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports (Mpor), with this upgrade, the terminal will be able to accommodate up to 25 vessels per month.

The cargo movement has already shown promising results: in March 2025, Cabedelo Port recorded a record of 172 thousand tons handled, primarily of petcoke and fuels. In the accumulated total for this year, the number has already surpassed 285 thousand tons.

Solar Energy and Sustainability as a Differentiator

In addition to structural improvements, the installation of a photovoltaic energy system has made Cabedelo Port the first among public ports in the country to operate with solar energy.

This initiative aligns with global sustainability trends and represents a significant competitive differentiator.

“These investments are completely transforming the port structure in Cabedelo and will increasingly boost the state’s exports, placing both Cabedelo and Paraíba in the international development hub,” stated the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

More Resources for Future Expansion

The Ministry of Ports and Airports announced that an additional R$ 130 million in future investments is planned, focusing on expanding the infrastructure and increasing operational efficiency.

The goal is to consolidate Cabedelo Port as a national reference in integrated and sustainable logistics.

“Now, with the foundations ready and structured, we will work to further foster development, placing Cabedelo Port on the route of international port globalization,” declared the minister during the inauguration ceremony.

Cabedelo Port: A New Chapter in the Economy of Paraíba

The governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, highlighted the impact of the new project on the state’s growth. For him, the restructured port terminal will be a strategic vector for progress and integration.

“The port is now prepared to accommodate ships of up to 55 thousand tons, and we know that this is essential for the development of Paraíba. It will be the entry and exit point for the wealth of the state, in addition to helping integrate the community of Cabedelo with port activities,” he emphasized.

With a total area of 55 thousand m², the port features upgraded warehouses, administrative areas, and common spaces, creating a modern and efficient environment for cargo flow and attracting new businesses.

With the delivery of the new structure, Cabedelo Port reaffirms its importance as a key element in the economic development of Paraíba.
