Good news for Macaé! Welberth Rezende just announced on his social media that he has received, just now, in his office, Thiago Penna, the director of the BM-C-33 project from Equinor, accompanied by the manager of institutional relations, Tiago Martins, and the sustainability lead Ana Cupolo.
The municipal secretary of Economic Development, Rodrigo Viana, and the environmental secretary, Juninho Luna, were also present at the meeting.
Company’s Operations in Brazil
The Norwegian multinational, which operates in 30 countries and has over 20,000 employees, specializes in energy and is present in the Campos Basin, where it conducts operations in the Peregrino field, in addition to a 25% stake in the Roncador field, being the operator of the BM-C-33 block.

In the Santos Basin, the company is currently leading the Bacalhau field, which is expected to begin production in 2024. Equinor, in Brazilian territory, holds several high-impact exploration licenses and has many projects aimed at renewable energy generation.

“On that occasion, in addition to our institutional partnership, I spoke with the company’s leaders about the possibility of them installing an operational base in Macaé and expanding their business with the local market, benefiting the hotel, retail, and services chain in the city. I also talked about the Industrial Park project in Macaé, which will facilitate the arrival of more companies to our city,” said Welberth.
