Service provided at a base of the Novo Litoral Concessionaire, in the early hours of July 1st, ensured the safe birth of baby João Benício even before arriving at the hospital and highlighted the importance of the support structure available to drivers using the Mogi-Bertioga Highway.
A trip along the Mogi-Bertioga Highway ended in an unforgettable way for a family from São Paulo. What began as a regular journey turned into an emotional moment when a woman went into labor during the trip and needed immediate help. According to information released by the Government of São Paulo, the birth took place in the early hours of July 1, 2026, inside the User Service Station (SAU 2) of the Novo Litoral Concessionaire, located in Mogi das Cruzes (SP).
The baby, named João Benício, was born at 3:40 AM, just minutes after the mother, Michelle Aparecida da Silva, arrived at the location. The quick response of the on-duty team was crucial for both mother and child to receive immediate assistance until the transfer to a hospital unit.
Team acted quickly after the family’s arrival at SAU
According to the report published by the Government of São Paulo, the service began around 3:20 AM, when Michelle and her husband, David Rosário, arrived at SAU 2, located at kilometer 77 of the Dom Paulo Rolim Loureiro Highway (SP-098), known as the Mogi-Bertioga Highway.

While continuing their journey, the pregnant woman’s contractions became increasingly intense. Given the situation, David decided to stop the journey and seek help at a point the couple was already familiar with.
According to him, the choice was made because they had used that structure about a week earlier during another trip, which made the decision easier in a moment of urgency.
“The contractions became more and more intense, and I remembered the SAU. Because it was in a great location, I decided to stop and ask for help. And it was the best decision we could have made,” said David.
He also highlighted the support received from the concessionaire’s professionals throughout the service.
“With a lot of calm, care, and dedication, they managed to control the whole situation. They stayed by our side the entire time. I am grateful to the CNL team for the service provided, which made a difference on the most remarkable day of our lives,” he added.
Mother and baby were taken to the hospital after birth
Shortly after the birth of João Benício, mother and son remained under the care of the Novo Litoral Concessionaire team until they were transported by an ambulance from the company to Santa Casa de Mogi das Cruzes.
They arrived at the hospital around 4 a.m., where both continued to receive medical care. According to the concessionaire, both are doing well.
For Novo Litoral’s Operations Coordinator, Fábio Ortega, the episode marked a special moment for the entire team responsible for the highway administration.
According to him, this is the first birth recorded since the beginning of the road concession.
“The service represents how we take care of the highways and the people. Every day, our teams put knowledge, preparation, and dedication at the service of life,” highlighted Ortega.
SAU structure allows quick responses in emergency situations
In addition to providing support to highway users, the User Service operates as an operational base prepared for different types of occurrences.
SAU 2 has a modern structure to accommodate drivers and passengers, as well as serving as a strategic point for ambulances, tow trucks, and operational teams, reducing response time in emergency situations.
The efficiency of the structure had already been demonstrated previously. As recalled by the concessionaire, a few months earlier a 1-year and 2-month-old baby was saved at another User Service unit located in Itariri, in the Vale do Ribeira.
On that occasion, the child arrived unconscious and was revived in a few seconds by the on-duty professionals, reinforcing the importance of these bases along the highways.
The birth of João Benício now becomes part of the history of the Mogi-Bertioga Highway as an episode marked by the speed of service, the preparation of the teams, and the support provided to the family in one of the most important moments of their lives.
