Mineral Production in Brazil Generated Revenue of R$ 70 Billion in This First Quarter of 2021. Thousands of Jobs Were Created with the Growth of the Numbers
Even with all the problems caused by the pandemic, Brazil had a mineral production 15% higher in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year. The numbers show the enormous importance of Brazilian ore in the recovery of the country’s economy, generating thousands of new jobs.
The Brazilian Institute of Mining (IBRAM), an organization linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, reports that the growth in tons was 15%, compared to the same quarter of 2020. The sector received double the taxes, generating around 11,000 direct jobs, 6% more compared to last year. The country managed to nearly double its revenue compared to last year, due to several factors. These include the currency variation, increase in the price of international ore, among other reasons.
The negotiation/exploration of ore in Brazil generated revenue of R$ 70 billion this quarter. In 2020, the sector had a revenue of R$ 36 billion in the first quarter. This amount is 95% higher compared to last year.
