The Federal Institute of Goiás (IFG) is offering a free and 100% online training for teachers and education professionals interested in deepening their knowledge in Education for Youth and Adults (EJA).

The initiative aims to provide quality training for teachers who work or wish to work in this mode of education, enhancing their understanding of the dynamics and challenges faced by EJA students.

The course “Formative Horizons in EJA” aims to prepare participants for the challenges of inclusive education, addressing historical, social, and cultural aspects of this mode of teaching.

Opportunity for Educators

According to IFG, the training is part of an initiative to enhance teacher training, aiming to broaden understanding of the diversity and specificities of EJA students.

This approach is fundamental, as EJA students have diverse profiles, including young people who had to interrupt their studies and adults who are returning to education after many years away from the classroom.

The course also seeks to connect theory to pedagogical practice, contributing to the continuing education of professionals in the field and encouraging the adoption of more dynamic methodologies tailored to the needs of this audience.

Course Load and Structure

The program has a structure of 120 hours of training, divided into four modules:

  • Module I: Education and Inclusion (30 hours) – Covers the fundamental concepts of educational inclusion, promoting accessible education for all students.
  • Module II: Generational Education: Youth, Adults, and Seniors (30 hours) – Explores the specificities of different age groups within EJA, ensuring an appropriate pedagogical approach.
  • Module III: Multiliteracy (30 hours) – Addresses the different forms of literacy and how they impact the learning of youth and adults.
  • Module IV: Education, Race, and Gender (30 hours) – Discusses relevant social issues that influence the educational experience of EJA students.

Each of these modules has been designed to address essential issues regarding the education of youth and adults, allowing participants to develop a broader and integrated view of teaching in this mode.

Spots and Modality

In total, 400 spots will be available, with 100 for each module, all in the Distance Learning (EAD) modality.

Participants will have tutor support, access to exclusive pedagogical materials, and practical activities that will contribute to the application of content in the school routine.

The course is scheduled to start on April 26, 2025, and classes will be taught remotely through an IFG virtual platform, allowing educators from anywhere in Brazil to participate in the training.

Who Can Participate?

According to IFG, the course is aimed at a specific audience, including:

  • Basic and Higher Education Teachers who wish to improve their performance in EJA;
  • Employees of the Federal Institutes, enhancing their pedagogical competencies;
  • Undergraduate Students who wish to better prepare for the job market.

Applicants must prove an academic or professional link to education at the time of registration.

This requirement ensures that spots are filled by professionals and students who can truly apply the knowledge acquired, strengthening the quality of education for youth and adults.

Importance of EJA Training

Education for Youth and Adults plays a fundamental role in Brazilian society, providing educational inclusion for individuals who, for various reasons, did not complete their studies at the conventional age.

In Brazil, millions of people still do not have access to complete basic education, which directly impacts their job employment opportunities and quality of life.

The course offered by IFG aims to qualify teachers to work more effectively in this context, considering the specificities and needs of EJA students.

According to specialists in the field, it is essential for educators to be prepared to deal with the diversity and challenges of this audience, promoting meaningful teaching adapted to the social realities of the students.

Active methodologies, the use of educational technologies, and the valorization of students’ prior experiences are some strategies that can make teaching more efficient and engaging.

Certification in Pedagogical Training

Participants who complete the modules will receive official certification issued by IFG, specifying the course load completed.

The document can be used for proof of continued education in selection processes and career advancement.

The certification is an important differential for education professionals, as it demonstrates commitment to qualification and pedagogical improvement.

The Importance of EJA in Society

Education for Youth and Adults not only restores the citizenship of thousands of Brazilians but also directly contributes to the economic and social development of the country.

Studies indicate that individuals with a higher level of education are more likely to enter the job market, obtain higher salaries, and access opportunities for professional growth.

In this sense, investing in teacher training for EJA is crucial to ensure that this basic right is guaranteed for all.
