Goiás and Paraná Receive Investments in Biogas Project
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved two investments for biogas production in the interior of Goiás and Paraná. Together, they will avoid the emission of 154 tons of pollutant gases, equivalent to the planting of 1,076 trees.

The investment from Albioma will increase biogas production at the plant by 8.7%, reaching 195 GWh. About 17 GWh (enough to meet the needs of 8,500 households) could be distributed to the interconnected energy system, enhancing national energy security. Some of the energy may be directed to the Jalles Machado plant, which will provide the raw material.
In the case of Albioma regarding biogas, the total investments of R$ 16.9 million, with financing of R$ 13.3 million from BNDES, will enable the processing of 1.09 million cubic meters of vinasse per year (about 1.25 million tons). Of the R$ 13.3 million, R$ 12.74 million comes from the Climate Fund and R$ 600 thousand from the Finem Direto line.

The main applications of the resources will be in civil works for installations and the purchase of domestic machinery and equipment. With the project, “Albioma and Jalles Machado reinforce innovation and sustainability through energy generation from vinasse biogas,” says Christiano Forman, CEO of Albioma Codora.
Cost Reduction
In Paraná, after project implementation, Copacol will generate energy for use in its facilities, as well as provide a useful destination for highly polluting waste, reducing costs with electricity consumption and decreasing the environmental impact of the unit. The investment initiatives will also indirectly mitigate the pressure on the national electricity grid, as they will reduce external demand from the unit.
“Environmental preservation is maintained in all our activities, from the property to the final product. We are always seeking innovative strategies that ensure the well-being of all. We are very pleased to partner with BNDES on this project. We will give a correct destination to the waste, produce clean electricity, and provide even more sustainability to our cooperative,” says Valter Pitol, CEO of Copacol.
