National Master’s in Literature Offers In-Person Places in Renowned Universities and Institutions in the Interior, with Enrollment Open in 2025. Program Is Aimed at Public School Teachers Who Teach Portuguese Language.
The National Access Exam for the Professional Master’s in Literature (PROFLETRAS) – Class of 2026 will open enrollment from September 15 to October 15, 2025, exclusively through Comperve/UFRN.
The selection process offers 911 places nationwide, with in-person classes focused on the training of public school teachers. The registration fee is R$ 160.
Who Can Register
Licensed teachers in Literature (Portuguese qualification) or Pedagogy can participate, provided they are teaching Portuguese Language in the public network in Brazil, in Elementary Education and/or High School, at the time of registration and during the course.

Where Will the In-Person Classes Be Held
Activities will occur in person at units distributed across all regions. The PROFLETRAS network includes 48 public universities and 58 associated units, covering capitals and rural towns.
Among the institutions are USP (SP), UFMG (MG), UFRJ (RJ), UFSC (SC), UFRGS (RS), UFPA (PA), UFAM (AM), UFAL (AL), UFRN (RN), UESPI (PI), IFCE (CE), IFES (ES), UNESP (SP), UFJF (MG), UFU (MG), UFRRJ (RJ), UERJ (RJ), UEL (PR), and UEM (PR), among many others mentioned in the announcement.
Schedule of the Selection Process
Enrollment will be open from 8 AM on September 15, 2025, until 11:59 PM on October 15, 2025.
The exam is scheduled for November 23, 2025, to be administered simultaneously at participating institutions.
The schedule was published by the national coordination of the program and replicated by associated universities.
Target Audience and Objectives of the Training
PROFLETRAS is a stricto sensu program aimed at the qualification of Portuguese Language teachers in Basic Education, with support from CAPES/MEC and national coordination from UFRN.
Classes are in-person and organized in a network, allowing teachers to pursue their master’s degree without leaving their home school.

The distribution of 911 places is detailed in Annex I of the announcement, which specifies the number at each associated university.
Publications from the institutions themselves already indicate, for example, 16 places at UFMG, 21 at UFU, and inaugural classes at newly integrated units, such as UFAM and IFRO in Ji-Paraná.
The numbers vary by campus and adhere to broad competition rules and provisions for reserved spots.
Documents and Requirements to Check
In addition to the required diploma, the candidate must prove affiliation and activity in the classroom of Portuguese Language in a public school during the specified period.

Applications are online, via Comperve (UFRN), responsible for executing the national exam.
