NASA Secrets: Agency Astrophysics Director Reveals Confidential Information. Discover Some of the Secrets of the American Space Agency That Few People Know, Revealed Directly by Its Director.

NASA Secrets: In a statement that quickly generated a lot of buzz, Paul Hertz, NASA’s Astrophysics Director, made intriguing claims about the American Space Agency. According to him, humanity will never discover extraterrestrials, as it will be they who find us first. However, it was another statement by Hertz that really caught attention: “If you knew even a fraction of the terrible things we know, you would never sleep again.” These enigmatic words raised numerous questions about what NASA really knows about the universe and its potential threats. In this article, we will explore some of the most surprising secrets that were revealed by the director, shedding light on information that few know about the agency’s operations and discoveries.

Secrets Revealed by NASA’s Astrophysics Director Shock the Public

As mentioned above, Paul Hertz is the director of astrophysics in NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and has held the position since March 2012. The NASA Director has been responsible for the agency’s research programs and missions aimed at discovering how the universe works, exploring how the universe began and evolved, and searching for planets like Earth.

Although many secrets have not been revealed by the NASA director, it is important to mention that there is a lot of information that even today many people do not know.

To start with NASA’s secrets, during World War II, the Axis countries Germany, Italy, and Japan fought against the Allies, an alliance formed by France, England, the United States, and the Soviet Union.

Despite the United States being enemies of Nazi Germany, after the war, NASA secretly sheltered Nazi scientists. In the post-war period, American scientists were working on Operation Paperclip, a secret project aimed at placing Nazi scientists in the United States’ space, military, and technological programs. The real goal of the operation was to prevent Nazi scientists from being used by the Soviet Union.

NASA Secrets: Did the Agency Know About the Challenger Space Shuttle Accident?

On January 28, 1986, at exactly 11:38 AM US time, the Challenger launched into space. It was a massive steel tube weighing a hundred tons and valued at over 1 billion dollars. Unfortunately, shortly after takeoff, an explosion destroyed the ship, and the debris fell into the Atlantic Ocean. Seven crew members perished in the accident, comprising five men and two women.

What NASA did not tell the rest of the world was that the space agency knew this would happen. Rockets are large tubes of explosive fuel and are under tremendous stress during launch. Thus, engineers must make them perfect to prevent tragedy, and no component can be of poor quality, not even bolts and seals.

An important part of the space shuttle’s rocket boosters were their sealing rings, which held together the main joints of the rockets. These rings are made of rubber and, although durable, can be damaged by temperature changes. Before the 1986 launch, the contractors who designed the Challenger’s sealing rings realized that a recent cold snap had damaged them.

The Engineer Roger Boisjoly knew that the rings would not hold, and he called NASA to tell them that the space shuttle would explode and that they would have to delay the launch; however, NASA ignored the information.

NASA Is Also Recognized for Great Achievements

Despite the statement from NASA’s director, the agency is not only involved in dark NASA secrets. While there is still much darkness, we can also highlight great achievements and discoveries of the American Space Agency, such as the Perseverance Rover, a small robot sent to our neighboring planet that used microphones to record the sounds of Mars.

The devices made it possible to hear the gusts of wind on the planet and also the noises involved in the planet’s movement. This is an incredible and unique achievement for humanity, which is still taking its first steps in space travel.
