A Infraero is officially responsible for the construction of a new international airport in Olímpia, in the interior of São Paulo. It is estimated that the new airport in SP will be ready in 2026, receiving international flights from neighboring South American countries. It is worth mentioning that the investment in the project exceeds R$ 100 million.

The expectation is that the new airport in SP will be ready in 2026 and will receive international flights from South American countries. The city is located 430 km from São Paulo, in the northern part of the state. The inauguration of this new international airport, with millions in investment, aims to place the city among the country’s most sought-after destinations, given that the city has famous attractions such as Thermas dos Laranjais, one of the largest water parks in the world, and Hot Beach, one of the largest in Brazil.

Currently, the closest airport to the city is located in São José do Rio Preto, 55 km away. The construction of the new terminal brings expectations of growth in the number of tourists, welcoming about 1 million passengers per year.

The city also has other attractions besides water parks, such as the Valley of Dinosaurs, the Wax Museum, and Orionverso, the first virtual reality park in Latin America.

New Airport in SP Receives Investment of R$ 104 Million

On Tuesday (1), the decision to grant Infraero the implementation and operation of the Airport of Olímpia was published in the Official Gazette of the Union, under the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Portaria No. 471. This means that the federal agency is responsible for implementing, managing, operating, and exploring the terminal.

Last year, in December, the federal government approved an investment of R$ 104 million for the construction of the airport, which is in the Union Budget for 2024. The bill was approved by the National Congress. The area for the construction of the new airport in Olímpia has over 200,000 m², close to the Assis Chateaubriand Highway, and the plan is for the work to be completed in 2026.

With this new development, Olímpia begins a new chapter in its history. The airport improves access to the city and boosts economic growth and appreciation of tourist attractions. As construction progresses, expectations grow, strengthening Olímpia as a promising destination.

Olímpia Already Receives About 2 Million Visitors a Year

With the investment in the new airport in SP, the expectation is that tourism in Olímpia will grow exponentially. Today, the city already receives about 2 million visitors a year and with the new infrastructure, this number could increase significantly.

The possibility of receiving direct flights from capitals and strategic cities should expand the reach of the destination, attracting an even larger audience.

Additionally, the airport will bring investment and development opportunities for the entire region. Tourism, which is already one of the main economic activities in Olímpia, is expected to generate even more jobs, both direct and indirect. Hotels, restaurants, shops, and other local services are likely to thrive with the increase in visitor numbers.
