The Dutch company stated that the manufacture of the topside of the FPSO was started in Brazil, at the EBR shipyard in Rio Grande do Sul, and in China, at the Bomesc shipyard. SBM also reported that the job of placing the keel on the hull of FPSO Mero 2 has already been completed.

According to SBM, shipyards in China have reopened and are operating close to normal capacity. The same had their activities suspended due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Part of the ship's topside is under construction in China at the Bomesc shipyard, where the shipyard will also be responsible for carrying out module integration activities. The vessel's hull is being built at the CMHI shipyard, also in China.

The Dutch company informed that if all goes well, the forecast to complete the works on the topside at Bomesc is scheduled for March 2022.

Currently, the physical progress of the FPSO Sepetiba works is at 30 percent. The information refers to Petrobras' last financial statement.

The FPSO will be connected to up to 16 wells and will have the capacity to process up to 180 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 12 million m³/day of gas.

The start of oil production by the vessel is scheduled for 2023. The Mero field is located in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer, 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
