Transporter Investments in Gas Trucks
The transporter is initiating a new positioning that prioritizes sustainability, completing an investment cycle amounting to R$ 50 million in various initiatives in this area and not just related to this purchase. Scania, which leads the transition to a more sustainable transportation system, reaches the mark of 150 trucks with this technology since the start of sales in October 2019.
TransMaroni acquired its first 11 units from Scania in October 2020. With the product’s performance and the visibility generated by new deals, the company decided to purchase other smaller batches, totaling 39 additional units ordered. In total, the company achieved the historic volume of 50 gas trucks.

The majority of the gas trucks that the transporter bought from Scania had already been scheduled for production in 2021, and the most recent units’ delivery schedule is being negotiated. The Scania trucks will be used in the food, retail, hygiene and cleaning, cosmetics, and e-commerce segments in various Brazilian states.
Quality in Scania Trucks
The brand new heavy trucks from Scania powered by gas (natural and/or biogas) are designed for medium and long distances. Their engines are Otto Cycle (the same concept as cars) and powered 100% by natural gas and/or biogas, or a mixture of both. The engines are not converted from diesel to gas, have factory warranty, reliable and safe technology, with consistent performance and strength similar to diesel trucks. In addition, they are quieter.
The cylinders and valves are certified by Inmetro (in compliance with the law). There are three valves (flow, pressure, and temperature) that release gas in case of an anomaly in any of these three aspects, and the cylinders are extremely robust (the material is missile nose cones). In the event of a fire or collision, the gas from Scania’s truck is released into the atmosphere and dissolves without explosion risk, unlike a similar vehicle fueled by diesel (which is more dangerous), as the liquid stays on the ground or on top of the truck.
