Shopee, E-Commerce Platform Linked to Singapore’s Sea Group, Initiates Operation of Two New Distribution Centers in Brazil.
These structures are the company’s first units in the Northeast region of the country and are located in the cities of Recife and Salvador, with 10,000 and 6,000 square meters, respectively. With these new units, Shopee consolidates its presence in the Brazilian market and expands its ability to serve consumers.
According to the company, the new warehouses will allow for the optimization of logistical processes, from collecting products from local sellers to delivering them to consumers, further enhancing the quality of the service provided. Additionally, the inauguration of new centers will enable Shopee to expand its reach by more than 40% in the number of cities, ensuring greater effectiveness in deliveries.
With these two new units, Shopee now has eight distribution centers across the country, located in the metropolitan regions of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, Campinas, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, and Rio de Janeiro.
Together, the eight distribution centers have the capacity to handle over 1.5 million packages daily, coming from 3 million registered sellers on the platform.

Shopee also recently opened more than 60 collection and sorting centers for goods to be sent to distribution centers, along with having over ten logistics partners that serve all Brazilian cities, in addition to the postal service category.
In March of this year, Asian e-commerce companies were the subject of governmental discussions regarding the potential end of tax exemption for low-value international transactions between individuals.
However, Shopee continues to invest in the Brazilian market, as demonstrated by the opening of these new distribution centers.
Still in April, the Federal Revenue announced that it was considering ending the exemption for international orders of up to 50 dollars in transactions between individuals, a benefit that, according to the entity, was being misused by e-commerce companies, especially Asian ones, to sell products at lower prices in the country. However, the measure did not progress and was set aside after complaints from consumers.
It is worth noting that Shopee is not limited to just distribution centers.
The platform regularly innovates by bringing new features to users and suppliers, the most recent being a partnership with Delivery Center for ultra-fast deliveries, gradually rolling out to all capitals and metropolitan regions in Brazil, aiming to have over 15,000 registered drivers.
Recently, the platform also brought to Brazil Shopee Farm, an online agricultural platform that connects rural producers directly with consumers, as a way to complement the platform with more regional products.
Shopee, which arrived in Brazil in 2019, has been experiencing rapid growth and investing significantly in various areas of the business to protect its market share and provide the best possible experience for users of the platform.
