Union Informed That Several Workers From FPSO P-69, Located In The Santos Basin, Are With Covid-19. Petrobras Informed That The Workers Have Been Disembarked
The Sindipetro-LP, Union of Oil Workers of the São Paulo Coast, reported that at least 17 workers from Petrobras’ P-69 platform tested positive for Covid-19. In light of the outbreak, the Union requested the temporary interruption of activities at the unit.
According to Marcelo Silva de Lima, director of Sindipetro-LP, “we requested (to Petrobras) the temporary interruption of the platform’s activities so that the oil workers can be disembarked and the platform can be decontaminated. These are measures we propose to mitigate the spread of the virus. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of testing during the disembarkation from the platform”.

On November 12, a worker who disembarked tested positive through the RT-PCR test. Another 13 workers who disembarked from the platform between the 14th and 17th also tested positive for Covid-19. Another 14 workers who disembarked during that period tested negative.

Petrobras reported in a statement that employees who showed symptoms, as well as their contacts, disembarked immediately and were tested on land, with monitoring by Petrobras health teams and guidance for isolation.
The company also informed that all those on board the platform, including service providers, were tested. Those who tested positive were disembarked. All professionals who had contact with those who tested positive, even if tested negative, were disembarked and will remain in isolation until the test is repeated.
In addition to the tests, Petrobras stated that P-69 underwent additional sanitation by a specialized team, and guidelines for distancing and prevention on board were reinforced.
Petrobras has already conducted over 320,000 tests for Covid-19 on employees at its own units throughout the country.
