Atlantic Zonda Begins Offshore Drilling in Brazil Under Contract with Petrobras, Marking New Chapter in Deepwater Exploration with Technology and Operation from Ventura Offshore
The Atlantic Zonda rig has officially started its first drilling campaign offshore in Brazilian waters. The vessel arrived in the country after undergoing a series of enhancements at the Seatrium shipyard in Singapore. Now operated by Ventura Offshore and owned by Eldorado Drilling, the rig is beginning its activities along the national coastline.
Contract with Petrobras
The operation occurs under a contract established with Petrobras. The initial agreement has a duration of three years, with the possibility of extension for an additional three.
During this period, Ventura Offshore will be responsible for the operations and will receive management fees and reimbursable revenues, as outlined in the contract.

Technical Capabilities of Atlantic Zonda
With Samsung 96K design, the Atlantic Zonda has drilling capacity in water depths of up to 12,000 feet, equivalent to about 3,658 meters.
It is equipped with six 4,500 kW thrusters, a hook load of 1,250 tons, and a variable deck load of 22,000 tons. Another highlight is the managed pressure drilling (MPD) system, a technology that offers greater safety and control in operations.
Recognizing Project Leaders
The CEO of Ventura Offshore, Guilherme Coelho, celebrated the start of operations. “We wholeheartedly congratulate the entire Ventura Offshore team for reaching this important milestone. The dedication and effort of everyone were fundamental in making this project a reality,” he stated. He also thanked Eldorado Drilling for the partnership throughout the process.
