The Government of Canada is accepting applications for full scholarships for Latinos, aiming to fulfill the dream of those who wish to study abroad. The initiative to study in Canada for free is offered by the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP), and in this article, we will detail everything you need to participate.
Who Can Participate in the Scholarship Program to Study in Canada?
Those interested in studying in Canada for free must be enrolled full-time in a higher education institution in an eligible country or territory, pay the institution’s tuition fees at the time of application and throughout the duration of the program.

Candidates are not eligible for scholarships to study in Canada for free if they have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, are already participating in a scholarship program funded by the Government of Canada, or are already enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Higher education institutions in Canada interested in hosting students must be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), have a valid student exchange agreement with the student’s home institution that waives their tuition fees.
Find Out How to Apply for Scholarships to Study Abroad – Study in Canada
To apply, the student must meet the requirements listed above. In addition, those approved for the scholarships to study in Canada for free must be accepted for the exchange at the institution where they wish to study and receive a letter of acceptance.
After receiving the letter, it is necessary to register on the program’s platform and complete the application form. More information about the documentation and application can be found on the scholarship program’s website. Interested students must apply by March 18.
It is important to remember that, in addition to the tuition fee waiver, selected undergraduate students for the ELAP will receive CAD$ 8,200, equivalent to R$ 3,360, to spend at least four months in the country.
Master’s and PhD students will receive CAD$ 11,100, equivalent to R$ 4,500, for an exchange of 5 to 6 months. The grants must be used for expenses such as visas, health insurance, airfare, accommodation, food, and other daily expenses.

The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) offers slots for Canadian higher education institutions to host students from Latin America and the Caribbean. The program is funded by Global Affairs Canada through the Academic Relations program to promote educational ties and Canada’s engagement in the region.
Scholarships are awarded to students from colleges and universities in the Americas to study in Canada for free.
Established in 2009 by the Government of Canada, the program fosters the development of human capital and the next generation of leaders in the region, as well as strengthening academic and cultural ties between Canada and the Americas.
